Rising Stars: Meet Nick VanRyswyk of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nick VanRyswyk.

Hi Nick, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always been fascinated by cars, growing up I loved hot wheels, posters of cars, seeing cars in parades, and learning to recognize different types of cars at a very young age!

In highschool, I found that I enjoyed photography. I started out taking photos of nature, because I lived in a rural area. But, there was one particular day I was driving by a lake and there was a beautiful blue Nissan GT-R R35, in the driveway of a lake house… I turned around and pulled into their driveway, and the owner happened to be coming to shore on a boat. I asked him if I could take some photos of it, and he not only welcomed that, but also opened the doors and invited me to sit inside of it!

I loved the photos I took of the car, and this is what really lit the fire in me to begin capturing cars.

I later found that I enjoyed videos, the art of making a video in the form of a story, and being able to show the sounds along with visuals just really interested me.

I posted a short little video one day of me riding in a fast car with a friend, showing the speedometer accelerate and the sound of the engine roaring… I thought nothing of it. A bit after that I posted a video of a trip I took with family to drive Polaris RZR’s off-roading, again I thought nothing of it.

I checked back on my videos a few months later, and saw thousands of views on each of them. This really surprised me and motivated me to start posting more on YouTube!

Since then I have been hunting down the fastest and most fun modified cars in Michigan, trying to contact their owners, and coordinate a time to interview them about their car and drive it to experience what it’s all about! All of my rides have been filmed and posted to my YouTube channel, and more opportunities come my way every single day because of it!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been easy. I actually felt very burnt out after working hard at growing the channel as a side-hustle for a year straight, driving thousands, for what didn’t seem like much of a reward at the time.

I ended up wanted to get a better job, and focus on a “real career”. So, I actually quit YouTube altogether from 2024-2026. After reflecting on where I was at the beginning of 2026, I realized I made a mistake ever stopping my YouTube channel. So, I began contacting more people to film with, and uploading once again!

I now want to focus on doing a better job than I ever did when I first started, I want to provide videos people love to watch, and grow as part of our car community in ways that I benefit others! I decided that even if my YouTube channel never provides me much monetarily, I won’t stop filming videos because it’s what I love!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
For my day job, I work in a financial planning office, gaining experience and knowledge to become a financial advisor. I enjoy being able to help others, and walk alongside people’s financial journey!

I do spend as much time as I can outside of work, building my YouTube channel business. I am passionate about both avenues, and am open to opportunities on both ends!

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
YouTube changes a lot, especially with AI, I feel that there will be dramatic changes within the next 5-10 years. I do feel that we will go deeper into an AI hole of content and entertainment that doesn’t feel as personal, and then it will transition into an era of people needing to make personal content to stand out. So, I am not worried that AI will take away from my channel because I am going to focus on being unique and creating real content with real people, that AI could never create!

I do expect the content creation industry to keep growing, and it becomes easier and easier to create content. With that said, I also expect the industry to become more competitive, and will have to challenge myself to always be thinking of creative ways to stand out and be unique.
