Meet Amber Sanchez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Sanchez.

Hi Amber, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Amber, for modeling I use the name Amber Rose. Currently I am a full time Hospice Nurse, I started off in the ER and Step-down ICU before transitioning to end of life care. I was introduced to modeling through an event called ShutterFest held in St. Louis and fell in love with the creative process between a model and a photographer. I discovered it’s an empowering experience and allows for beauty to unfold in the connection created between people.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The two fields I work in are so different, but I find similar struggles between the two at various magnitudes. With Hospice Nursing and modeling there is a never-ending process of learning, growing, and changing through all of the connections you make with the people you come across in the work. Self-doubt constantly knocks at the door, but by leaning on the people around you, never being afraid to ask questions, and staying humble, you end up part of the most beautiful stories.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I would consider myself a professional and artist/creative. Professionally, as a hospice nurse, I provide end of life care to dying people and their families, educating, guiding and holding space for grief for people from various cultures, backgrounds and socioeconomic status. Often I am referred to as an angel, last responder, or a worker in heavens waiting room. Even though the job is heavy on the heart and the soul, I am proud to be someone with the strength to carry it. Modeling and music is where I get to let my creative side dominate. I guess you could say both jobs have the theme of connection with people. I specialize in connection. Modeling allows for a connection and creativity between a model or models and the photographer. Maybe unsurprisingly, I am known for my depth in the images I create with others. I am proud of the relationships I am able to cultivate with others.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For all of my professional and creative endeavors, I give one solid piece of advice. Be authentic, honest, and true to oneself. Connection cannot be made otherwise. Always be humble, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to say that you don’t know something or need help.
