Today we’d like to introduce you to Michell Cope.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Michell Cope also known as Michell Jasmin’ I was born and raised in Detroit Michigan. I am a midsize fashion influencer. For as long as I can remember fashion has always been a part of my life, an outlet for me to express my emotions. I remember while being young, going to church on Sundays with my grandma. She would wake my brother and I up early and make us a big breakfast. She would always help me pick out my outfit it was always a pretty dress with the ruffle socks to match. As I got older, she always paid close attention to detail. She knew I did not like my dress to long but still appropriate and I hated turtle necks. She always made sure that every Sunday my outfit from the earrings to the shoes matched. It was something that i would look forward to on Sundays. Those earlier days have carried me through life. My style always expressed how I was feeling. For some years I got away from it, expressing my style and then it found me again. I registered to be a brand ambassador at the Revamp Clothing Swap festival after a hard breakup and it not only helped me find my style again but also gave me an outlet to create, put my energy into my craft, and be social with like minded people. I help everyday working women find confidence in their body. I have worked with brands like skinny tees and Ashley Stewart etc. I strongly believe that every step of your journey in whatever journey your on deserves your full confidence. I also believe that there is nothing wrong with looking and feeling good about where you are right now.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I remember when I first started midsize style content creation and I would go in my back yard and take photos with my iPhone and I just remember saying to myself you have to start going out in the city because these backyard photos are not cutting it. lol. So i started going out into the city taking my photos. My mom would come with me and she was like my personal security guard. Which helped me with my anxiety of being in public.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The special thing about me is that I juggle work and content creation. I currently work in assembly at a local production company while maintaining my midsize style content creation. While it has been rough, I have still been resilient in what I’m working towards.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
This midsize style journey makes me extremely happy and brings me joy. I not only find joy in styling myself, but others as well. I have styled family and friends, coworkers, etc. it brings my joy that I can help not only the people around me find confidence but even my internet family as well. My goal is to be well recognized in creating midsize/height inclusion in women’s clothing. I believe it important for the consumer to have a real representation of what that truly means. While modeling, I’ve had conversations with several women who have a similar body type, they feel more confident in their shopping experience.
