Meet Aaron Waldron of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron Waldron.

Hi Aaron, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up in Detroit, community has always been a huge part of who I am. Like a lot of kids, I spent my early years playing sports, building friendships, and learning the value of teamwork and discipline. Those experiences shaped the way I approach both life and business today.

As I got older, I worked at Chrysler while continuing my passion for basketball, coaching with the Michigan Playmakers for many years. Coaching gave me the opportunity to mentor young athletes, build relationships with families, and make a positive impact throughout the city. Over time, I became known as someone who genuinely enjoys bringing people together and supporting others however I can.

When my brother, Shannon, began growing Urban Fêtes, it felt like a natural fit. Today, as Chief Operating Officer, I oversee our Detroit operations, including our event space, silent parties, silent school events, corporate activations, and community experiences. My role is making sure every event is executed at a high level and every client feels taken care of from start to finish.

For me, it’s always been about people. Whether I’m coaching, helping a client bring their vision to life, or supporting a community event, I take pride in creating memorable experiences and representing Detroit in a positive way. I’m grateful for the journey so far, and I’m excited to continue building something that makes an impact both in our city and beyond.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. Like any growing business, there have been plenty of challenges. Building something from the ground up means wearing a lot of hats, solving problems in real time, and learning as you go. There have been long days, unexpected setbacks, and moments where we’ve had to pivot quickly to keep things moving.

One of the biggest challenges has been scaling while maintaining the level of service we’re known for. As we’ve expanded into larger events, school activations, and our Detroit venue, the expectations have only grown. My job is making sure every client gets the same great experience, whether it’s a 50-person private event or a 1,000-person silent party.

Another challenge has been balancing everything. Between business, family, coaching, and being present in the community, time management is something I’m constantly working on. But those experiences have made me a better leader. They’ve taught me to stay calm under pressure, trust the team around me, and never lose sight of why we started in the first place.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As Chief Operating Officer of Urban Fêtes, I oversee our Detroit operations, from private events at our venue to silent parties, silent school experiences, corporate activations, and community events. My focus is making sure every event is organized, professional, and delivers an experience people remember.

I’m also a longtime basketball coach with the Michigan Playmakers, and coaching has had a huge impact on how I lead. It taught me how to build teams, communicate, and bring out the best in people. Those same principles carry over into everything I do in business.

I’m most proud of the relationships I’ve built throughout Detroit. Whether it’s families I’ve coached, clients we’ve worked with, or partners we’ve collaborated with, I’ve always tried to be someone people can count on. That’s probably what I’m known for the most: being dependable, approachable, and making sure things get done the right way. I believe great events aren’t just about the venue or the entertainment. They’re about making people feel valued, and that’s something I take pride in every single day.

Any big plans?
I’m excited about continuing to grow Urban Fêtes and helping expand our impact throughout Detroit and beyond. We’re always looking for new ways to create memorable experiences, whether that’s through private events, school programs, corporate activations, or community partnerships.

Personally, I want to continue mentoring young people through basketball while growing as a leader in business. I’m looking forward to helping open new doors for our company, building stronger partnerships, and creating opportunities that positively impact our team and the communities we serve.

At the end of the day, the goal is simple: keep building something that people are proud to be a part of and leave every event, client, and community better than we found it.
