Meet Rachel Esterline

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rachel Esterline.

Hi Rachel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been a writer, and I spent my career telling the stories of others — CEOs, nonprofits, start-ups, schools, and universities as a PR and marketing professional.

In late 2024, I started writing my first book. I started my days early, writing every morning. While I waited for a few people to read my first manuscript, I wrote my debut novel, Reaper & The Lioness. This book is a motorcycle club romance about a PR consultant who finds herself working for an outlaw motorcycle club in Texas.

After a few months of querying agents, I decided to publish my book independently. Reaper & The Lioness was released on Aug. 20, 2025. I’ve since released two other books — Damascus & The Wildfire and Hatchet & The Hellcat. My fourth book, a novella titled The Ambush Wedding, will release this fall. The audiobook for Reaper & The Lioness has also been released.

My Lone Star Mavericks series contains interconnected standalones, meaning they follow different characters within the same world. In the books, morally gray protectors and strong heroines fight for found family—crossing lines in the haze of smoke, betrayal, and temptation. Each dual-POV novel throws readers into the fast lane of the outlaw motorcycle club world. They are high-stakes, fast-paced romantic suspense stories with happily ever afters.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I love being an independent author because I have full control of my story, cover design, marketing strategy, and release dates. But it’s a lot of work and hustle.

On any given day, I could be working with an editor on one book while developing Instagram Reels and TikTok videos to promote the books I’ve already released, proofing an audiobook, planning my next event, ordering custom bookmarks and stickers, and working with my street team to expand my reach. I also personally pack and ship every book that is ordered directly from me.

It’s a lot to juggle, especially considering I also have my own marketing consultancy and sometimes teach at universities.

That being said, my books have been well-received. I have strong ratings for a newer author, an incredible reader community that supports me, and a lot of momentum that has me optimistic about my future as an author.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
All of my books, so far, are motorcycle club romance. This is a unique sub-genre known for morally gray characters and dark themes.

I’m proud of the world I’ve built and the stories I’ve developed. I think my voice and sense of humor comes through in my characters. l blend my knack for gritty realism and sharp dialogue with my fascination for characters who live in the gray. My novels dig into themes of loyalty, vengeance, and what it means to rebuild when life takes everything.

What makes my stories is unique is that there are always themes of strong, empowered women. I don’t write women who need to be constantly rescued. They are complex characters with hopes, fears, friendships, and flaws. They have hobbies and goals, and a life outside of the love interest in the stories.

I also include a rescue dog in every book. I fostered for the Malinois & Dutch Shepherd Rescue

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I’m an Asana fanatic, and I use the project management platform personally and professionally to keep all the moving pieces of my author and professional life on track.
