Check Out Keisha Turnbough’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keisha Turnbough.

Hi Keisha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always describe the start of my business as being birthed out of frustration. In 2018, I set out to remodel my home. At the time, I reached out to multiple companies for task such as flooring installation, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, By the time I met with the fourth company, I was both exhausted and frustrated due to feeling as though pricing was exaggerated. I found myself thinking that there had to be a better path towards remodeling my home. In true Keisha fashion, I began researching how many of these same task were completed by everyday people with little to no experience in the carpentry/millwork world. I began binge watching DIY videos on YouTube in addition to taking free classes at my local Home Depot. Both resources provided the hands on experience that I would later come to master.

Several weeks later, tile flooring had been installed, a water closet had been completely remodeled, new stair treads and risers were installed, and I finally had a modernized kitchen to cook my favorite meals in.

The one common theme in each of these projects was love. I loved every facet of the process…even the parts that were challenging. I remember saying to myself that I could literally do this type of work without being paid. This was the beginning of me living out not only my passion, but my purpose.

My company was established in 2018. I jumped straight in without fully understanding the world of interior design. In addition to doing small design jobs for family members, I began staging properties as a way to gain experience. I can be transparent in saying that not every experience was a great experience. But it was definitely a valuable lesson that has served me well over the years.

Fast forward to 2026, my creative reach has extended to residential, commercial, educational, and healthcare projects.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I wish I could say that the journey has been easy. I have learned that design is a very emotionally driven industry. This is where my background as a mental health therapist has served as a foundation for understanding how to read in between the lines and deal with challenges that arise.. Not every client can effectively verbalize their needs, wants and desires. But they can most definitely tell you what they don’t like.

In addition to client challenges, one area that I know many designers have struggled with, is finding the right trades to work with. I have paid a contractor to do a specific job and he ended up disappearing. I have had contractors that never returned to complete a job. I have had to deal with disrespect and discrimination as a woman owned business.

This world is not for the weak as there is always “something” to overcome.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My services range from design concepts to full remodel projects.

I specialize in working with busy professionals. 90% of my clientele either own their own businesses or hold leadership positions in their respective fields.

I am known for my use of bold colors, patterns, and textures.

I am most proud of the relationships and trust I have established with my clients. I am proud of the fact that they have allowed me to create multiple designs for their spaces.

What sets me apart is that for me, design is so much more than only creating a pretty space. It is also about the relationship. I have sat with clients, in the middle of a presentation, as they mourned the loss of a loved one. I have sat with clients and listened as they told me about their childhood. I have accepted apologies from clients who have had emotional breakdowns during a conversation. I have shares meals with clients as we discussed the beauty and challenges of life. In the midst of all of this, I have remained a safe space for my clients to share some of their most intimate moments without judgement. In a world that is often full of pretentious people, I choose to lead with authenticity and love.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Creativity and inner peace make me happy. Creativity allows me to feel like I am flowing in my purpose. Inner peace creates the space necessary to dream.
