Check Out Tracey Martin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tracey Martin.

Tracey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My love affair with thrifting started at the tender age of 10 but the legacy actually begins with a $4.80 silk dress from Lord & Taylor. My mom found it at the thrift store brand new
Growing up in a middle-class household as the middle child of three, I always had a massive appetite for high-end fashion. The problem? I couldn’t afford designer price tags, and my mom certainly wasn’t about to pay retail for luxury labels. But my mom held the ultimate secret. Years earlier, her mother-in-law took her to a thrift store for the very first time, where she stumbled upon that legendary Lord & Taylor dress. She fell head over heels for the thrill of the find, and when I turned 13, she passed that torch directly to me.
She didn’t just take me shopping; she gave me a full masterclass in high-end thrifting.
My mom taught me how to scan a crowded rack with speed, feel for premium fabrics, and spot top-tier tailoring from across the room. She showed me the art of authenticating designer clothes and purses—from inspecting hardware and stitching to identifying pristine vintage tags. But she didn’t stop at building a chic wardrobe on a budget; she taught me the business side of it too, showing me how to turn unique finds into real profit and make money doing what I love.
What started as a teenager’s obsession with luxury style on a budget grew into a lifelong passion and a real hustle. Thrifting was never just about saving money for us—it was about knowing quality, mastering the hunt, and proving that high fashion is a mindset, not a price tag.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Throughout my journey, I’ve faced various challenges in building genuine relationships with people who truly appreciate my work and understand the effort I put in. My goal has always been to ensure that those I serve are well taken care of, receiving authentic, high-quality pieces. One of the hardest lessons has been dealing with friends or acquaintances who sometimes expect to receive things for free, assuming our friendship entitles them to special treatment. Over time, I’ve learned to communicate that quality comes with value, and that exceptional pieces deserve fair prices. These experiences have taught me a great deal—about myself, about forming meaningful partnerships, and about connecting with people in influential positions who truly respect me and value my insights on business matters like reselling and sales. Despite the struggles, I remain committed to integrity, understanding, and mutual respect in all my relationships.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in personal shopping, whether sourcing items from thrift stores or retail malls. My expertise lies in finding desired pieces that may be discontinued or still available in stores, all at a fraction of the normal cost. I also coordinate with clients to bring people together from head to Toe, whether for professional events, formal occasions, weddings, or various social gatherings. My proudest achievement is making clients feel confident and good about themselves without spending a lot of money, helping them look stylish, pay less, and feel fabulous.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
