Today we’d like to introduce you to Raquel Delly.
Hi Raquel, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into real estate wasn’t something I had planned. At the time, I was working at Verizon when a few real estate agents I knew started encouraging me to get my license. I decided to take a chance on it, and looking back, that decision completely changed the direction of my life.
What started as a new career opportunity quickly became something much bigger. I found a sense of purpose in helping people navigate some of the biggest decisions and transitions in their lives. I learned early on that real estate isn’t just about buying and selling homes—it’s about people, relationships, trust, and being someone your clients can truly rely on.
Over the years, I’ve continued to grow not only as a Realtor, but as a business owner and as a person. My sister and I eventually joined forces and built Property Sisters together, which has allowed us to create a business that reflects who we are and the kind of experience we want to provide for our clients.
There have been plenty of challenges, lessons, pivots, and moments of growth along the way, but each one has helped shape where I am today. More than a decade later, I’m still incredibly passionate about what I do. Real estate gave me a career, but more importantly, it gave me a purpose—and I think that’s what has continued to push me forward.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, but I don’t think it was supposed to be. Real estate is an industry with a lot of highs and lows, and when you’re self-employed, there’s no guaranteed paycheck or clear roadmap telling you what to do next. I had to learn very quickly how to trust myself, stay disciplined, and keep moving forward even during seasons when things felt uncertain.
One of my biggest challenges over the years has actually been getting out of my own way. I’ve had to work through self-doubt, learn not to compare my journey to everyone else’s, and become comfortable taking risks without knowing exactly how they would turn out. There have been deals that fell apart, difficult markets, long days, and moments where I questioned what I was doing—but every one of those experiences taught me something.
I think the biggest lesson has been realizing that growth rarely feels comfortable while you’re in it. Some of the hardest seasons of my life and career have ultimately pushed me to become more confident, resilient, and intentional about the life and business I’m building. Looking back, I wouldn’t necessarily choose every struggle again, but I’m grateful for who they forced me to become.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a full-time Realtor and have been in the business for over 10 years. I work with both buyers and sellers throughout Southeast Michigan, and while every transaction is different, my approach is always the same: educate my clients, communicate honestly, advocate for them, and make sure they feel supported from beginning to end.
I think what I’m known for most is being transparent. I’m not afraid to have the hard conversations or tell someone something they may not necessarily want to hear if I believe it’s in their best interest. Buying or selling a home is a huge financial and emotional decision, and I take the responsibility of guiding someone through that very seriously. I also love the negotiation side of real estate. I’m naturally very competitive, and I genuinely enjoy figuring out how to put my clients in the strongest position possible.
My sister and I built Property Sisters around that same philosophy. We want people to feel like they have someone in their corner, not like they’re just another transaction. Relationships have always been a huge part of my business, and many of my clients have become friends, repeat clients, or people who continue to refer their friends and family to me. That trust means more to me than any award or sales number ever could.
What I’m most proud of is the reputation and business I’ve built over the years. Real estate has given me the opportunity to create a career and life that I’m proud of while helping other people accomplish something incredibly meaningful to them. Handing someone the keys to their first home, helping a family move into their next chapter, or receiving a message from a client saying they felt taken care of throughout the process—that’s the part that never gets old.
I think what sets me apart is that I genuinely care. I pay attention to the details, I’m very hands-on, and I treat my clients’ goals as if they were my own. I want people to walk away from working with me feeling like they had someone who fought for them, was honest with them, and made an important moment in their life feel as special as it should.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
My biggest advice would be to stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and focus on building something that feels authentic to you. When you’re first starting out, it’s so easy to look at people who are further ahead and feel like you should be doing more, selling more, or growing faster. What you don’t see are all the years, mistakes, and work that happened before you got there.
I also wish I understood earlier just how important consistency is. You don’t have to have everything figured out, and you definitely don’t have to be perfect. You just have to keep showing up. Some seasons will feel like everything is falling into place, and others will make you question yourself completely. Keep going anyway.
And above everything else, take care of people. Your reputation will follow you much longer than any individual transaction will. Be honest, answer the phone, do what you say you’re going to do, and genuinely care about the people you’re working with. Relationships are everything in this business.
If I could go back and tell my younger self anything, it would probably be to trust the process a little more. You’re not supposed to know exactly how everything is going to unfold. Work hard, stay true to who you are, keep learning, and don’t be afraid to evolve along the way. The things that feel like setbacks in the moment may end up being the exact experiences that shape you into who you’re supposed to become.
