Daily Inspiration: Meet Alexandria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandria.

Hi Alexandria, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My business has blossomed from a photography business into a full blown experiential agency! I’ve always loved photography, there’s something about freezing a moment in time and being able to look back at when you want. Photos hold all of the memory, and as time went on it’s something I cherished. I first started getting more seriously when I lived in Germany for four years, that time allowed me to find myself, my style of photography and build some amazing friendship and travel adventures. My love for capturing memories and curating moments for others came naturally. So it only made sense to build on that natural talent! Client after client started asking helping with other things outside of photography and that’s what helped grow my business from photography to an experiential agency! Still with photography as a core pillar of course, but now I’m available for curating events, brand experiences and so much more! Here in Lansing, MI I’m becoming well known for my event Petals and Portraits. It’s centered around girlhood and fused with three of my favorite things, fashion, florals, and photography! First event I had twenty lovely girls, and not even a week after, the signup for our next one has reached one hundred and counting. It’s been beautiful to see, and every single person that comes tells me how much they’ve been yearning for community, girlhood and something to look forward to. Most come solo, and leave with new genuine friendships! People yearn for community, and I’m here to help bridge that gap! It’s been a beautiful journey, and worth every second!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As I reflect, the beauty in any journey is the start! You learn a lot then, about yourself, your clients, and how you want to operate your business. You tweak things as you go, and you get more and more refined as you experience more moments! In the beginning it felt a little scary just putting myself out there, but the more I exposed myself to the newness and showed up it got easier to navigate! Easier to hone in on my craft, especially because I did not go to school for anything I do today, and that list is long! I pick things up naturally and run with it, but that does come with a lot of learning. So never shy away from that, see it through and decide at the end what’s worth doing or taking away.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m the face behind Zhanae Visuals, a true hopeless romantic, I founded Zhanae Visuals, because I was constantly drawn to the emotions all around me, so I picked up a camera, and I have not put it down since.

Overtime Zhanae Visuals, has grown to be more than a photography service; it’s a creative powerhouse where photography is still a core pillar, while holding space for experiential expereinces for brands, event planning, and all of the lovely moments in between like weddings, elopements, and so much more. Simply by having the audacity, my life and connections have transformed, so if you’re reading this the stars aren’t enough, shoot higher and remember having the audacity will take you far. Opportunities will find you, be prepared to say yes to what is aligned and release what doesn’t!

I genuinely enjoy working with the dreamers, lovers, and visionaries of the world, it shines light on the hopeless romantic in me. It’s truly special to be apart of your journey and bring your vision to life.

What matters most to you? Why?
Community, and freezing a moment! Life moves faster than we can comprehend sometimes, days run together but one thing that has remained a constant is my community and my camera! My love for people, building moments for others, bridging the gap for those around me and capturing it as I go is truly special! I get to be in the midst of it all, see it blossom and when the day ends I have the photos to match the feeling of that day! The people crave community and it’s such a special place in my heart to push that forward.
