Today we’d like to introduce you to Christian Dudley.
Hi Christian, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a young man from Detroit, Michigan. I was an athlete majority of my life and when I attended Michigan State, I was confused on what type of person I wanted to be. I found myself through the arts and being unapologetically me. My roommates and I were supposed to start a podcast during the pandemic and never started. I took the opportunity to learn how to use the camera and the rest is history. I graduated with an engineering degree but decided the arts have my heart. Started any doing random shoots but I am now working towards being in conceptual fashion.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It is never a smooth road to anything worth it. My work is constantly progressing as I learn more but I feel like creatives are the most hyper critical people in the world. I don’t view obstacles as a bad thing, I view them as something to overcome for the betterment of you as an individual. Obstacles I face are being visible to a larger crowd, working with more brands and mastering the craft of photography. These are things that come as I grow.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a photographer and day trader. I specialize in fashion, beauty, and conceptual photography. I’m known for my big concepts and out of the box photos that aren’t seen a lot in Detroit. People appreciate my ability to stand out and be aware of styles outside of my environment. I’m looking to expand into conceptual fashion, where I can work with brands and bring their product to life.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
Most people say this is surprising but I’ve only been a photographer for three years.
