Hi Arris, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Related Through Racks was born from both a dream and a loss. Growing up, some of my closest friends and I always talked about creating a clothing brand called Related Through Racks, but we never took that first step. After losing friends who meant the world to me, I graduated high school and spent time working in carpentry. That summer, I decided to stop talking about the dream and finally bring it to life. Since then, I’ve been giving everything I have to building the brand. I’ve never really shared this publicly before, but much of the drive behind Related Through Racks comes from wanting to honor the people I grew up with and carry forward a vision we once imagined together.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
One of the biggest challenges in the beginning was learning the business side of clothing. My first and second drops didn’t go the way I expected, and I ended up losing money because I didn’t fully understand production costs, pricing, and the process. It was discouraging, but I chose to treat those losses as lessons instead of giving up. As I kept networking, I was introduced to people who were producing their own clothing using blank garments, heat presses, and screen printing.
We’ve been impressed with RelatedThroughRacks , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Its deeper than a brand , its deeper than money ,it’s a story of loyalty,grit and purpose. The name represents the idea that family isn’t always defined by blood, but by the people you grow with, struggle with, and stand beside through life. Every collection I create carries meaning and is inspired by real experiences, not just trends. I want people to feel like they’re wearing something that represents ambition, perseverance, and the people who helped shape them.
What sets my brand apart is that I’m building it from the ground up and constantly learning every part of the process. From designing graphics and sourcing quality garments to learning heat pressing, screen printing, and production, I’ve dedicated myself to understanding the craft instead of just paying to put a logo on a shirt. I want every release to improve on the last and reflect the growth of both myself and the brand.
What I’m most proud of is that Related Through Racks has continued to grow despite setbacks and for me being able to show others in my everyday life there’s a lot I’ve taught myself and have also been shown by others with designing from scratch. The support from people wearing the brand reminds me that the vision I’ve talked about with others, and that’s incredibly motivating.
More than anything, I want readers to know that Related Through Racks isn’t just about fashion, it’s about creating a community where people feel connected through shared experiences, loyalty, and the pursuit of something greater. My goal is to build a brand that lasts for generations and inspires others to chase the ideas they pray on and want to achieve, and not to wait until something tragic happens for you to make a new step in life.
