Hi Jacqueline, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
When I moved to Ann Arbor, I couldn’t find an all-inclusive resource for local recommendations. I knew a lot about marketing and video editing, so I decided to make Go Ann Arbor and create the platform I was missing. Through filming, I met some incredible business owners and community members. I discovered that a lot of businesses didn’t have the time or skillset for marketing, which is why I decided to create Go Social Media Strategy. Now I get to use my marketing expertise to help businesses grow a customer base through social media. I absolutely love what I do.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I built Go Ann Arbor and Go Social Media Strategy while raising a toddler and teaching part-time. I’m also pregnant with twins. My business is now full-time, which I’m thrilled about, but it took a lot of late nights to reach my revenue goals. I’m grateful to be building something that I’m proud of and setting an example for my sons.

Go Ann Arbor is a social media platform that connects people to their community. Washtenaw County has incredible parks, events, and local businesses that often go unnoticed. We live in a highly globalized world, which is wonderful in a lot of ways, but sometimes we forget to involve ourselves locally. Go Ann Arbor encourages people to enjoy everything our area has to offer.
When I was meeting local business owners, they would often tell me about their struggles with marketing. Business owners wear a lot of hats, and its’ easy to get stretched thin and let marketing fall by the wayside. That’s why I built Go Social Media Strategy. I get to help some incredible businesses market their products and services and take something stressful off of a business’s plate.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
I’ve had a lot of luck and privilege in my personal life. I’ve always wanted to live and raise a family in Ann Arbor, not expecting my family to move here too. For reasons unrelated to my choices, my brother and parents live nearby, which has helped immensely with raising children and starting a business. Aside from the practical support of supplemental childcare, they ground me and cheer me on every step of the way. Most importantly, I would be remiss not to mention how lucky I am to have an incredible husband. He believes in me on my hardest days and runs the house when I need to work long hours. Entrepreneurs can’t do it alone, and I think it’s important to acknowledge our village.
