Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Dodson.
Hi Elizabeth, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Our team started HomeZada after working at a world leading commercial construction project management software company. While at this company, the idea to start HomeZada came to life. If large construction projects had tools to manage the construction process and ongoing facilities management., why did our homes not have the same tools available to help homeowners understand how to manage these buildings that become part of the family.
With a great team that previously worked together, we decided that homeowners could use a solution like HomeZada. We made changes in our careers, choose to design the HomeZada platform, raise some money from the founders and some friends and family and we launched HomeZada to homeowners in the US.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When starting a company, there are always twists, turns and surprises. It is what you choose to do with the unexpected that determines how you move forward.
The first challenge we faced was we thought we had a clear idea who our early adopter customers would be but then we quickly realized that the audience we thought were engaged with our platform turned out to be something other than who we really thought we reached. It was time to immediately adjust our marketing and communications to meet our early adopter customers.
We also understood that consumer customers embrace solutions in their life differently than project managers for construction companies. This required us to make sure our platform was easy to use and adjust how our user interface would work with different types of homeowners so working with top notch UI/UX design teams was critical to the way we continued to develop a solution for our customers.
In addition to development, we understood that homeowners are different and meeting their needs required a different style of marketing that led to more communications that reached homeowners where they were during their homeowner journey.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
HomeZada is redefining what it means to own and manage a home.
We created one of the first digital home management platforms because we recognized that homeowners were using dozens of disconnected tools—or more often, no system at all—to manage what is typically their largest financial asset. From maintenance and repairs to remodeling, insurance documentation, home inventory, warranties, finances, and important records, critical information was scattered across filing cabinets, spreadsheets, email inboxes, and memory.
HomeZada brings everything together into one secure, intelligent platform that helps homeowners organize, maintain, protect, and improve their homes throughout every stage of ownership.
Today, our technology serves homeowners, while also helping real estate professionals, insurance professionals, mortgage lenders, property managers, home organizers, and other trusted advisors deliver lasting value to their clients.
HomeZada specializes in digital home management.
Our platform combines home inventory, maintenance scheduling, project management, financial tracking, document storage, home value insights, replacement cost forecasting, and homeowner education into a single system that makes managing a home dramatically easier.
We are known for helping homeowners become more organized, better prepared, and more financially informed. Whether someone is purchasing their first home, maintaining a family residence, managing multiple properties, preparing for an insurance claim, planning a remodel, or organizing an estate, HomeZada provides the tools to simplify the process.
Rather than solving one problem, we help homeowners manage the entire lifecycle of homeownership.
Most companies solve one piece of homeownership.
Some help with maintenance.
Others focus on remodeling.
Some specialize in home inventory, insurance, budgeting, or home services.
HomeZada connects all of these pieces into one intelligent ecosystem.
We believe homeowners don’t have a maintenance problem, an inventory problem, or an organization problem—they have a systems problem. When information is fragmented, decisions become harder, opportunities are missed, and unexpected events become more stressful.
Our mission is to replace scattered information with one complete system that gives homeowners confidence, clarity, and control.
As artificial intelligence becomes more integrated into everyday life, we believe its greatest value will come from understanding the complete picture of a home—not isolated pieces of information. HomeZada was built with that long-term vision in mind.
I’m most proud that HomeZada has remained true to its mission from day one.
We have never viewed homeowners as products or their personal information as something to monetize. Our focus has always been on creating genuine value by helping people protect one of the biggest investments they will ever make.
I’m also proud that our brand represents something larger than technology. HomeZada stands for preparedness, organization, financial confidence, and peace of mind. Those values guide every feature we build, every educational resource we publish, and every conversation we have with homeowners and industry professionals.
Owning a home is one of life’s greatest achievements, but managing one has become increasingly complex.
Our goal is simple: make homeownership easier.
Whether you’re buying your first home, raising a family, caring for aging parents, managing multiple properties, recovering after a disaster, or planning for future generations, HomeZada helps you stay organized, make smarter decisions, and protect what matters most.
We believe the future of homeownership isn’t just smart homes—it’s smarter homeowners.
That’s the future we’re building every day.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
HomeZada succeeds because it organizes the complexity of homeownership into one connected system.
I think HomeZada has survived and continues to grow because we think in systems rather than features.
Most companies build products around one problem.
Home inventory.
Home maintenance.
Remodeling.
Insurance.
Smart homes.
Budgeting.
Real estate transactions.
HomeZada was built around the homeowner’s entire journey.
That is a fundamentally different way of thinking.
Anyone can build a maintenance app.
Anyone can build an inventory app.
Anyone can build AI that identifies objects.
But very few companies understand how all of those things interact over the 30–50 years someone owns a home.
In addition to focusing on complete systems, we also understand that homeowners are all different. However, many of the systems are the same but edited and modified by the specific homeowner. HomeZada has flexibility for people to use it in the manner that they choose to manage their home.
