Today we’d like to introduce you to Giovana Gogola.
Hi Giovana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve always loved studying the English language, so my journey began when I decided to pursue a degree in English Linguistics and Literature. After starting university, I began teaching English at language schools in 2018, and I quickly fell in love with teaching.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, we had to move our classes online and record video lessons for our students. That’s when I learned how to edit videos. I also realized that I needed to capture my students’ attention, so I started creating role-playing stories while teaching English to keep them engaged until the end of each lesson and I loved it.
After a few months of doing this, my family said, “Why don’t you post some of your videos on social media?” So I created a TikTok account to teach English. A few months later, one of my videos went viral, and that’s how my social media journey began.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not. In the beginning, I was juggling two full-time responsibilities: teaching my private English students while also creating content for social media. It quickly became overwhelming, and I eventually experienced burnout.
That’s when I realized I had to make a choice. I decided to focus entirely on creating content online because it gave me the opportunity to reach millions of people instead of teaching just a handful of students at a time. That’s when I discovered my true calling as an English teacher and content creator.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I combined my passion for English teaching with storytelling. I created role-play videos in which I play multiple characters in funny, fictional situations inspired by real-life conversations. Instead of simply explaining grammar or vocabulary, I show English as it’s actually used, turning common mistakes and misunderstandings into entertaining, relatable stories.
My goal has always been to make learning English feel natural, enjoyable, and accessible. If people are already spending time scrolling through TikTok or Instagram, why not turn a few minutes of entertainment into a chance to learn something useful? That’s what motivates me every day: helping millions of people build the confidence to understand and speak real, everyday English
Today, many of us spend hours on our phones watching short-form videos, and traditional teaching methods often struggle to compete for that attention. So I asked myself: why not use that screen time to help people learn English while having fun?
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see many possibilities. I believe education and content creation will continue to evolve, especially with new technologies, and I think those changes will ultimately make learning even more accessible and engaging. One thing I’m sure of is that people will always need English, whether for work, travel, education, or connecting with others around the world.
My goal is to keep improving what I do by creating even more creative, entertaining, and educational content that helps people learn real English in a way that feels natural and enjoyable. I want to continue finding new ways to capture people’s attention while making language learning more effective and accessible to millions of learners.
Beyond my free content, my English course allows students to dive deeper into the lessons with structured learning, detailed explanations, and guided practice. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how it helps learners build confidence and make real progress. Looking ahead, I want to continue improving the course, expanding its content, and helping even more students achieve fluency and reach their personal and professional goals.
