Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah.
Hi Sarah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I knew from a young age that I wanted music to be a big part of my life. Growing up, my dad was in a rock band, and every night he would sit down to write lyrics for the songs his band would eventually record. Some of my favorite memories are sneaking out of bed to write lyrics with him.
The first concert I ever went to was Alice Cooper when I was two years old. Throughout my childhood, my parents took me to countless rock concerts, and when I got older, I started going to shows with my friends. My life has always revolved around live music, it was never just entertainment. Life was what happened in between shows. Looking back, it’s really no surprise that I eventually wanted to be the one putting on the show
.
The first time I seriously thought about DJing was after attending my first EDM show: NGHTMRE. I still remember the feeling of hearing that music through massive speakers, surrounded by thousands of people who all came together to have an incredible time. Walking out of that show, I knew I wanted to be the person on stage creating that feeling for someone else.
Not long after, I bought my first controller and practiced every chance I got. Most nights I was in my kitchen while my roommates cheered me on through every awful transition. Eventually, those transitions became a little smoother, and I landed my first DJ gig at a bar in Northern Michigan.
There’s really nothing like playing your favorite music for a room full of people who are ready to dance. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to DJ throughout the United States and Canada, performing at clubs, festivals, private celebrations, and large corporate events. I’ve even traveled to Saudi Arabia to DJ. Every crowd is different, but that’s one of my favorite parts of the job. I love reading the room, finding the right energy, and creating moments that people will remember long after the music stops.
As much as I love DJing, creating music has become an even bigger passion. Over the past few years, I’ve spent countless hours refining my production skills and experimenting with different styles of electronic music. My ultimate goal is to launch my own artist project and share the music I’ve been creating with the world.
At the end of the day, I believe music is one of the most powerful forces there is. It’s brought incredible people into my life, taken me to places I never imagined I’d go, and given me experiences I’ll carry with me forever. DJing has allowed me to connect with people from all walks of life, and I hope that one day my own music will inspire someone the same way those early concerts inspired me.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most creative careers, it’s been full of highs and lows.
One of the biggest challenges has been learning to believe in myself. The music industry can be incredibly competitive, and it’s easy to compare yourself to other artists or feel like you’re behind. There have been plenty of moments where I’ve questioned whether I was good enough or whether I should keep going. Over time, I’ve realized that confidence doesn’t come before you start, it comes from continuing to show up, putting yourself out there, and trusting the process.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At my core, I’m someone who loves creating experiences that bring people together. I do that in a few different ways: as a DJ, a music producer, and an event planner.
As a DJ, I’ve had the opportunity to perform at clubs, festivals, private events, and corporate experiences across the United States, Canada, and internationally. I love reading a crowd and creating moments where people can let go, have fun, and connect through music.
As a music producer, I’m focused on developing my own sound within electronic music. I’m constantly learning, experimenting, and refining my craft with the goal of launching my own artist project and releasing original music.
Outside of music, I work as an event planner, where I design and produce large-scale experiences for thousands of attendees. That role has taught me that every great event, whether it’s a festival, a corporate conference, or a DJ set, is ultimately about making people feel something.
What I’m most proud of is that I’ve built each part of my career from the ground up. Every opportunity has come from being willing to learn, work hard, and say yes to new challenges.
I think what sets me apart is that I approach everything through the lens of creating an experience. Whether I’m planning an event, producing a track, or standing behind the DJ booth, my goal is always the same: to create moments that people will remember long after they’re over.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I don’t think of myself as someone who takes reckless risks, but I do believe in betting on myself. Every opportunity I’ve had in music started with saying yes before I knew exactly how things would turn out. Whether that meant buying my first DJ controller, accepting gigs in places I’d never been, traveling internationally to perform, or starting to produce my own music, there was always some uncertainty involved.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that confidence usually comes after you take the leap, not before. If I had waited until I felt completely ready, I probably never would have played my first show.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s that growth almost always lives just outside your comfort zone.
