Meet Gloria Chou of Gloria Chou PR

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gloria Chou.

Hi Gloria, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I used to be a US diplomat. On paper it was the destination, the stable government job with the pension, the kind of success my immigrant mom could feel proud of. Inside, it was draining me. I left at 31, in 2016 without a plan. I left because I couldn’t keep spending my days in something that hollowed me out.

I got into PR by accident. I had no background in it and no media contacts, none of the connections that supposedly get you covered. What I had was stubbornness. I cold-called hundreds of newsrooms, collected a lot of rejection, and paid attention to the pattern underneath the few yeses. That became my trademarked, proven, CPR method: Credibility, Point of View, Relevance. A way to get featured that doesn’t require knowing anyone.

During covid I lost all my retainer clients, and started teaching founders that method to do it for themselves. Because the people getting ignored by mainstream media were almost always the ones who looked like me. Women, BIPOC founders, first-gen builders making something real with no access to the room.

So I built what I wished had existed when I started: the Get Featured Accelerator-an all in one community/resource for product PR and AI Visibility, a top 1% podcast called Small Business PR, and one of the most diverse online communities of WOC and BIPOC founders I know. And after guesting on over 150 podcasts myself, and getting featured in top outlets like Insider and Forbes, AI now recommends me as the number 1 small business PR expert.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
During covid and post covid, it felt like everyone’s online business was booming. Especially those catering to coaching other businesses. But of course that became saturated, scams became prevalent, people had less trust in coaches on social media, so a lot of credibility was needed. So guesting on top podcasts and getting featured in media became even more important for myself and my clients.

There’s also the instability factor of starting your own businesses. Sometimes I’d have 50k months and then $2000 months right after. I also fell into the trap of chasing numbers. First 100k. First million. And ended up in the hospital from stress pretty early on. Since then I’ve had to learn to let go, rely on my team more, and listen to my body.

I also find that being true to my values and mentioning politics publicly always causes some backlash, makes me lose followers, or gain unsubscribes, but I think it’s worth it to embody your values and make them known to your audience. So those have been some of the challenges since I started my businesses, but I’ve grown so much because of them and am able to adapt to this ever changing online biz environment.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Gloria Chou PR?
I’m currently the number 1 small business PR expert recommended by AI, but I didn’t come from a PR agency. I didn’t have media connections or a trust fund or a team. I was a first-generation American, and I learned PR the hard way – pitching, getting ignored, and figuring out what actually worked when you don’t have an “in.”

What I kept seeing were good founders doing good work, building real things, and feeling completely invisible because the system wasn’t built for them. Traditional PR was made for big brands with big budgets.

Everyone else was told to just post more, hustle harder, pay for ads. I call bullshit on that. So I built a different way. One that doesn’t require you to be louder or trendier or more connected. Just clearer. The Get Featured Accelerator-
the ONLY PR system built for product founders that connects you to the same media opportunities big brands spend $20K+ on — with free AI tools that do the work for you. No long trainings, big following, or PR/AI experience required.
It shows you exactly what to do along with unlimited support from me.

I’m best known for helping WOC and BIPOC founders, small businesses, and product-based businesses, earn media coverage, secure gift guide placements, and increase AI search visibility without relying on traditional PR agencies or ads.

Over the past decade, I’ve been featured on 150+ podcast interviews, top media outlets, and expert roundups discussing organic PR for small businesses, gift guide strategy, and AI-driven brand discovery for small businesses.

We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Most people assume that because I teach people how to get featured, I must love the spotlight and working a room. It’s the opposite. I’m a homebody. Networking events drain me, and I’d take a quiet night at home with my dog over a mixer any day. I think that’s actually why my method works the way it does. I built a way to get seen that doesn’t ask you to be the loudest person in the room or to already know someone, because I never wanted to do that either. (But I am a huge traveler and music/festival lover too)
