Check Out Jessica Singer’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Singer.

Hi Jessica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always been drawn to the beauty industry. In high school, I had the opportunity to earn my cosmetology license, but ultimately my parents encouraged me to pursue what they believed was a more traditional career path. That decision led me into the business world, where I spent the next seven years of my adult life.

During the COVID pandemic, I took time to reflect on what truly mattered to me. I realized that success wasn’t about how much money I made—it was about waking up every day excited to do something I genuinely loved. That realization gave me the confidence to follow my passion, and later that spring, I enrolled in cosmetology school.

Since then, I’ve found an incredible salon to call home, where I’ve been fortunate to grow from the very beginning of my career. The mentorship, support, and education I’ve received have shaped me into the stylist I am today and have played a huge role in the success I’ve been able to achieve. I’m so grateful I finally chose to bet on myself and pursue the career I had dreamed of since I was a little girl.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My journey has faced many challenges. One of the hardest lessons I’ve learned as a business owner is that the person who dreams of becoming an entrepreneur is very different from the person who actually builds the business.

As a hairstylist, my job extends far beyond what happens behind the chair. On any given day, I’m also the social media manager, marketer, customer service representative, mentor, and sometimes even a therapist. Success isn’t just about perfecting your craft—it’s about creating an experience that makes people feel seen, valued, and cared for.

One thing I often tell the apprentices I mentor is that this industry isn’t just about being great at doing hair. It’s about the experience you create for every person who sits in your chair. Every interaction is an opportunity to build trust, strengthen your brand, and show people who you are.

I’ve spent years working seven days a week to build a business I’m proud of. Along the way, I’ve learned that investing in myself is just as important as investing in my skills. Constantly striving to become the best version of myself, I’ve been able to create meaningful relationships with my clients. That is what I consider to be my greatest success.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a blonding, color and extension specialist with a love for transformative hair. Vivid color is my favorite because it allows for the most artistic and creative outcomes. There is hardly a risk I am not willing to take when it comes to color and extensions.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe taking risks is the only way to keep growing. Most of the opportunities that have shaped my career came from stepping into the unknown before I felt ready. In this industry, getting too comfortable usually means you’ve stopped pushing yourself. Growth comes from trying new things, taking chances, and being willing to keep evolving.
