Inspiring Conversations with Marina of MaVieira Style Consulting

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marina.

Hi Marina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Graduated in Social Communication, I took some courses in the fashion field under the guidance of experts and discovered my passion and vocation for Style Consulting.

I’m Brazilian and moved countries several times, living in Spain, Germany, and currently living in the United States, in Michigan, where I help women understand and identify their styles and needs, feel more beautiful, confident, reflect the image they desire, and make peace with their wardrobes without sacrificing their tastes and being strategic.

I have worked in the market as a fashion stylist for several magazines and produced costumes for film productions and advertising campaigns.

Since August 2017, I run MaVieira Style Consulting.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It wasn’t, and still isn’t, an easy journey.

Working in a different culture is an even greater challenge, because in addition to the language and communication barriers, I had to study extensively, and continue to study, the behavior of the American public, their routines, their forms of expression, and their cultural habits. This allows me to connect more closely with, gain credibility with, and be more assertive when working with this potential audience.

And being a mother and an entrepreneur doubles the work, as our family support network isn’t physically present.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Far beyond dictating what you “can” or “cannot” wear, style consulting is a process of self-discovery and visual strategy. It translates a person’s personality, professional goals, and routine into an authentic, functional, and consistent aesthetic identity.

Dressing is a daily non-verbal communication tool. The style consultant’s job is to ensure that this message is conveyed clearly, without losing its essence or feeling “dressed up.”

A complete consultation is divided into strategic stages, designed to generate autonomy for the client. The most common and effective services include:

Style and Visual Identity Investigation: Detailed interviews, analysis of references, and understanding the client’s routine to decipher their essence and image goals.

Body Type and Proportions Analysis: Mapping the lines and shapes of the body. The focus here is not on standardization, but on using the optical illusion of fashion (cuts, textures, and drape) to enhance what the client likes most about themselves.

Personal Color Analysis (Expanded Seasonal): A study of skin temperature, depth, and intensity to discover the color palette that harmonizes with natural beauty, softening dark circles and brightening the face.

Closet Clearing: A curated look within your own wardrobe. The goal is to sort out what makes sense, what needs adjustments, and what can be discarded or donated, freeing up physical and mental space.

Personal Shopper: A focused and planned shopping itinerary to fill wardrobe gaps, avoiding impulse purchases and ensuring that each new piece matches what you already own.

Outfit Creation and Style Guide: The practical step where we create dozens of different outfit combinations. Everything is recorded in a personalized, easy-to-consult digital dossier.

The greatest value delivered by a style consultant is not new clothes, but autonomy.

At the end of the process, the client is no longer a slave to shop windows, saves time every morning by getting dressed in minutes, saves money by making smart purchases, and above all, regains the confidence of knowing that her external image accurately reflects who she is inside.

Although the style consulting market offers many technically excellent professionals who master silhouettes, fabrics, and color, my greatest competitive advantage, the one that truly sets me apart from the competition, lies not in technique, but in active listening and human sensitivity applied to strategy.

The greatest differentiator a style consultant can have is the ability to translate the client’s vulnerability into a practical image strategy, without trying to mold it into a ready made formula.

The biggest differentiator for a style consultant isn’t what she knows about fashion, but how well she can make the client feel seen, understood, and empowered in her own skin. Technique attracts the client, but the human touch in the process is what generates referrals and premium positioning.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite memories are from when school had celebrations for national holidays, and we had to create and make costumes and festive outfits for these parties. The whole school and family members participated, and it was always a very unique and fun moment that fostered our creativity and sense of celebration and unity.
