Today we’d like to introduce you to Kendra Strevel.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I grew up in Sparta, Michigan, and feel incredibly grateful to now be raising my own family in the same community that helped shape me.
After the birth of my second daughter, I launched Kendra & Co, my virtual assistant business – as a way to support fellow small business owners while creating a career that allowed me to be present for my family. Entrepreneurship quickly became something I was passionate about, but I never imagined it would lead me to a second business.
When my oldest daughter was diagnosed as a sensory seeker, I began learning everything I could about sensory play and regulation. What started as creating sensory experiences for her at home soon grew into something much bigger. Together, my daughter and I now create themed sensory bins and homemade playdough through Little Hands Sensory Co. Our goal is to help other families provide engaging sensory experiences for their children.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Nothing about motherhood is easy, but becoming a business owner while raising young children was a challenge I never expected. Just three weeks after giving birth to my second daughter, I was admitted to the hospital for emergency gallbladder surgery. While recovering, I was still working to complete the certifications needed to launch my virtual assistant business.
There were many moments when I questioned how I would balance a newborn, our two big kids, and a brand-new business. Finding my footing wasn’t easy, but I was determined to make it work. My goal was simple – create a career that allowed me to be a present mom & wife while building something meaningful. Looking back, those early challenges taught me resilience, flexibility, and the importance of taking things one step at a time.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kendra & Co ?
Through Kendra & Co, I support small business owners by taking care of the tasks that often get pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. While social media management is my primary focus, I also provide support with email management, customer service support, invoicing / bookkeeping, and other administrative tasks.
I am proud to say that I currently work with two fellow moms who are building businesses while navigating the beautiful chaos of motherhood. Watching them grow their businesses while staying present for their families has been incredibly rewarding!
I truly believe small businesses are the heart of our communities. Behind every order, post, and late-night email is a real person taking a chance on a dream. My goal is to help those business owners thrive by providing reliable, personalized support. Readers should know that when they work with me, they’re not getting a corporate agency or a one-size-fits-all approach. They’re partnering with another small business owner who understands the challenges, celebrates the wins, and genuinely cares about helping them succeed.
Any big plans?
Honestly, my plans for the future look a lot like what I’m doing right now—just on a larger scale. I want to continue building meaningful connections within my local community and the incredible community of small business owners online. I’m passionate about supporting good humans who are chasing their dreams, whether that’s through my virtual assistant business or Little Hands Sensory Co.
Most importantly, I want to keep being present for my family and soaking up these years with my children. Entrepreneurship has given me the opportunity to build a life that aligns with my values, and I’m excited to continue growing both businesses while being the most present version of myself. If I can continue supporting others, serving my community, & raising kind, capable kids along the way – I’ll consider that a success.
