Conversations with Giselle Graham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Giselle Graham.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I found the Kindermusik program 25 yrs ago when my baby was 6 months old in Grand Rapids, Mi.

A postcard that was mailed to my home saying, “Come join a music class with your baby”.

I left my profession as an interior designer to pursue becoming an accredited Kindermusik educator.

Moved back to metro Detroit to be closer to family and open our Kindermusik classes inside the Clarkston Conservatory in 2003.
After 22yrs at CCM. We need a bigger space. We are now located inside the Clarkston United Methodist Church at 6600 Waldon Rd.

Changed my business name from Kindermusik at the Clarkston Conservatory to Musical Connections Studio LLC in March 2025.

Since 2006 our Kindermusik studio has been recognized as a “Top Program” from Kindermusik International. For 19 yrs in a row we are in the top 5% Kindermusik studios in the world & top 1% in Michigan.

We provide a pressure free music class room for ages newborn- 7yrs where children can learn at their own pace.
Music classes provide a safe environment where children brains grow while they play with instruments, socialize, grow, bond with their caregiver & new friends. Research has shown that children who get involved in a music class from the time they are born into their early years will benefit more with their cognitive development & excel in math, reading, & their overall confidence .
Kindermusik classes through Musical Connections Studio is here to provide these musical skills & more. We have helped children with special needs succeed as well as all students from all different backgrounds. All is welcome. We are one happy musical family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Running a small business can be challenging. Our most challenging time was during the pandemic where we could not meet in our classroom. We went virtual so we could still connect with our Kindemusik families.
It was the hardest challenge we endured. We depended on the internet to cooperate for a 45- minute zoom call each week.
We could see our students being less engaged and sad they couldn’t see us in person.

Our latest challenge was moving my business only a 1/4 of a mile in March of 2025 & changing our business name was extremely hard but also very rewarding. Families who have been dedicated to our program had no issues following us to our new location. Getting the word out through social media that we moved did not reach everyone. We are still getting the word out it that our Kindermusik program still exists in Clarkston, Michigan.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Kindermusik is a National & offered all around the world.
Their research based curriculum is what stands us apart from any other music program for children. We also have a Kindermusik App that our families can access so the learning can keep going at home even on the days our students are not in class.

We excel in helping our music students excel in their confidence. We strive in offering excellence in every class we teach. Our students can’t wait to attend each week and every new session we offer.

In the 25 yrs of offering Kindermusik, the most rewarding part is watching a child with a speech delay or physical disability excel with every class they attend. We had children walk & speak for the first time in our classes. Having parents thank us for providing so much growth in their children life though music.
Nothing is more rewarding than that.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
We hope to keep providing more families with Kindermusik. We get new families mainly from word of mouth and our 5 Star Google & Facebook pages.

We plan to be around for many more years to come and hope more new families can come enjoy our award-winning program.
