Today we’d like to introduce you to Christal Davis.
Hi Christal, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Images of Heaven Events, LLC began in 2004 in the basement of my home. At the time, I was working in Human Resources for a McDonald’s owner-operator who owned several restaurants and automotive companies. One day, I came across balloon magazines tucked away in a drawer and I instantly fell in love. I remember as a kids my Mother use to go to hobby stores and I hated going. who would have thunk I would grow to love deisgns.
My manager at the time decorated with balloons and noticed my interest. She encouraged me and even allowed me to use some of her old materials. That small act of support sparked something bigger in me. I immersed myself in learning. I studied those magazines nonstop and even copied pages from balloon websites just so I could absorb as much knowledge as possible.
From there, I sought out formal training. I began taking classes and eventually became a certified balloon artist. But I knew that was just the beginning. I didn’t just want to create balloon designs, I wanted to design full-scale, beautiful events that left lasting impressions.
That vision pushed me to grow even further. I completed a year of floral design classes at Wesley Berry Flowers and later trained in event drapery. I also became a certified event designer, expanding my skill set and deepening my creative capabilities.
Over the years, what started as curiosity in my basement has grown into a full-service event design business. Today, Images of Heaven Events is a reflection of passion, continuous learning, and a commitment to creating unforgettable experiences for my clients. My journey has been built on faith, dedication, and the belief that something small can grow into something truly extraordinary.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting my business from home was challenging, especially as inventory quickly took over my space. The long days and working most weekends meant sacrificing personal time, which hasn’t always been easy. In the beginning, finding dependable team members was also tough.
Despite that, it’s been incredibly rewarding. This is my passion, and seeing the joy on clients’ faces when they experience my work makes every challenge worth it.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Outside of running Images of Heaven Events, LLC, I also work in the HR department for an International automotive seating company.
Through Images of Heaven, we provide full-service event design, specializing in luxury balloon décor, fresh floral designs, drapery, and ceiling installations.
What sets me apart is my commitment to investing in myself and my business through professional training, which allows me to offer a wide range of design services. I also value collaboration, rather than seeing other designers as competition, I see them as colleagues and friends. We often work together and support each other to bring events to life.
How do you think about luck?
I don’t rely heavily on luck, I truly believe my journey has been built on faith, hard work, and persistence. What some may call “luck,” I see as opportunities that came from being prepared and willing to grow.
There have been moments that felt like good luck, like having a manager early on who encouraged my creativity or connecting with other designers who support and collaborate with me. On the other hand, the challenges, long hours, building my business from home, and learning through trial and error, may have felt like bad luck at times, but they helped shape me into the business owner I am today.
In the end, I believe you create your own opportunities through dedication, passion, and staying committed to your vision.
