Today we’d like to introduce you to Dori Isufi.
Hi Dori, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I came to America with husband from Albania 20 years ago, we were basically kids! We have been working in hospitality ever since. We own 7 of the Molly’s Cupcakes here in Chicago, and after spending so many years developing these businesses we decided it was time to build out our own home base. It’s been almost one year now since we opened our cafe and event space called Vjosa here in Bridgeport, and it’s been an incredibly journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been so many bumps in the road, of course, along the way. We’ve come to expect it and we do what we can do manage it with grace and a bit of grit. I am so lucky to work with my family and my incredibly dedicated team – it makes all the bumps in the road a bit easier.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are known for our cupcakes and pastries and operational expertise, but the heart of our success and our focus is on creating a positive environment for everyone to be the best they can be. We are proud to be a part of this beautiful Chicagoland community and to provide this kind of space.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
One of my favorite memories is helping my mother and grandmother make meals for the family. We grew up in an intense time in Albania and my family always really protected me from that. They cooked the way they lived – with care, purpose and open hearts. When I think of my childhood I go back to happy times in the kitchen with them.
