Life & Work with Kaila Hemphill of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kaila Hemphill.

Hi Kaila, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my content creation journey as a student-athlete at the University of Detroit Mercy, where I competed in track and field. During my undergraduate years, I landed several Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) partnerships, which introduced me to the world of brand collaborations and content creation. As I continued into graduate school, I realized I wanted to keep building in the creator space, so I transitioned into user-generated content (UGC). Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to partner with more than 50 brands, both locally and internationally, creating authentic content that helps businesses connect with their audiences while allowing me to turn my passion into a career.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t always been a smooth road. My biggest challenge has been staying consistent while balancing a full-time 9-to-5 career, maintaining my fitness routine, and creating high-quality content for brands on tight deadlines. There can be a lot of pressure to post consistently, engage with your audience, and keep up with trends, all while protecting your mental health. Learning how to prioritize my well-being without sacrificing the quality of my work has been one of the most valuable lessons in my journey.

That said, the creative side of content creation has always come naturally to me. I genuinely enjoy producing content, building relationships with brands, and connecting with people. Those experiences have made the challenges worthwhile and continue to motivate me to grow as a creator.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a user-generated content (UGC) creator who specializes in lifestyle, fitness, wellness, beauty, and fashion content. I create authentic, relatable videos and photos that help brands build trust with their audiences and drive engagement. My goal is to make every piece of content feel genuine rather than overly produced, allowing consumers to see products in a real-life setting.
One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is building a portfolio of collaborations with more than 50 brands, both locally and internationally, while balancing a full-time career and graduate school. It’s rewarding to know that something that started as a few NIL partnerships has grown into a thriving creative business.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine creativity with authenticity. I don’t just create aesthetically pleasing content—I focus on storytelling and understanding what resonates with consumers. My background as a social worker also gives me a unique perspective on human behavior and communication, helping me create content that feels relatable, trustworthy, and emotionally engaging.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is building genuine connections—both with the brands I work with and the people who follow my content. I love using my platform to share my life, inspire others, and recommend products that I truly trust and use myself. Authenticity is at the core of everything I create because I believe people connect with honesty. If I can help someone discover a product they’ll love, motivate them to pursue their goals, or simply make them feel seen, then I’ve done what I set out to do.
