Today we’d like to introduce you to Ediel Romero.
Hi Ediel, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The story started between me (Coach E) and my brother Edwin. We moved to Fort Wayne in 2020. Edwin was a boxer but there was no boxing scene in Fort Wayne so we took matters into our hands. Later on Jarrell Harris (Co Founder) came on board he saw the vision and gave it structure, now we’re here. Together we founded MDBC and also started our Nonprofit ‘The Winning Team’ to make sure we give back to the community in return.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s never a smooth road when you’re an entrepreneur. Like Jarrell says, Entrepreneurship is about putting out fires. We are strong on staying consistent and committed no matter what. I believe that out of everything we’ve had to handle, relocating was the hardest part.
As you know, we’re big fans of DRVN Boxing & Fitness/MDBC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
DRVN Boxing & Fitness is the brand new operation that we’re launching in 2026 where we are expanding our horizons to all around fitness while keeping a strong focus on Boxing. We are planing on bringing a fitness gym with weights, machines and an open floor concept to cover as many areas as possible.
MDBC remains our Boxing Club, the team that goes out and represents us at fights and tournaments. The Club is the aspect that takes care of our boxing classes, competitions, events etc.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memories are when I was real small and I used to get real excited about seeing my dad and also growing up in my neighborhood down in PR close by the beach.
