Check Out Rhonda Alexia Webb’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rhonda Alexia Webb.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
You know, my story doesn’t start where most people would expect. I was born and raised in Detroit, MI. and for 25 years I was a licensed cosmetologist and co-owner of a salon. I loved what I did — I built real relationships, developed my craft, and created something I was proud of. But eventually I felt a pull toward something greater. Something that went beyond building a business for myself.

That pull became my purpose.

By 2001, I had relocated to Saginaw MI. and in 2013, created I’m The Boss Now!™ — initially as an 8-week after school class that I personally taught. I believed with everything in me that kids needed to know they were capable of starting a business based on the skills and interests they already had — regardless of their age or experience.

In 2016, I founded Kids Rule Now! Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based right here in Saginaw, Michigan — because I needed a credible platform to reach more young people. Through 35+ events, we have now exposed 500+ youth to the world of entrepreneurship across our region — and our reach continues to grow. Not to make them millionaires overnight — but to plant a seed. To look a young person in the eye and say you are capable of building something, right now, with what you already have. Because Kidpreneurship isn’t a destination — it’s a skill kids grow into.

This year, we are proudly celebrating our 10th Anniversary — and I am beyond grateful for every step of the journey that brought us here.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Not even close. And I say that with a smile — because the struggle is actually part of the story I’m most proud of.

When I started in 2013, I was advocating for something in Saginaw County that simply wasn’t the norm. People didn’t know what to do with me. I was out here saying kids can be entrepreneurs — and most people felt it just wasn’t important to teach children about being a boss. I got pushback. I got silence. I got blank stares. And honestly — it was discouraging.

I had classes and camps I had to cancel because no one registered. I developed a full 32-week I’m The Boss Now!™ curriculum designed for schools to use as a year-round after school program — and I couldn’t get it in front of the right audience. So I sat on it. I kept nurturing it, kept revising it, kept believing in it — even when the world around me wasn’t quite ready for it yet.

I consider myself a pioneer in this space — not to be haughty, but because looking back I can see clearly what I couldn’t always see then. Pioneering something new is lonely sometimes. It’s going against the wind and deciding to keep walking anyway.

What kept me going were two people who believed in me early and never stopped — Renee Johnston, President & CEO of Saginaw Community Foundation and Terry Duperon, Founder of Duperon Corporation and Duperon Education. Their support during those early years meant more than I can put into words.
But I pressed through. And every cancelled class, every closed door, every moment of doubt became fuel. Because I knew what I was building mattered — even before the world confirmed it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I selected Other — and honestly, that feels just right. Because what I do doesn’t fit neatly into a traditional category, and I’ve made peace with that. Actually, I’ve made it my superpower.

I am Rhonda Alexia Webb — The Kidpreneurship Expert. I am the Founder and CEO of Kids Rule Now! Inc., a 501(c)(3) nonprofit based in Saginaw, Michigan, and the creator of the trademarked I’m The Boss Now!™ methodology. Simply put — I teach kids that they are capable of being entrepreneurs right now, based on the skills and interests they already have, regardless of their age or experience.

What do I specialize in? Changing the way young people see themselves. Because before a child can build a business, they have to believe they are capable of building one. That’s the work. That’s always been the work.

What am I known for? Being the person who showed up for young entrepreneurs in this region before it was popular. Before youth entrepreneurship was a trending topic. Before people understood why it mattered. I was already in the room — building the table from scratch.

Through 35+ events and 500+ youth exposed to entrepreneurship across our region — and our reach continues to grow — Kids Rule Now! Inc. has become a credible and consistent platform for young people to discover their potential as kidpreneurs. Every event we host exists for one purpose — to let a young person know that being a boss is not something you grow into someday. It’s something you can step into right now.

What sets me apart? I didn’t borrow someone else’s vision. I created a methodology — the I’m The Boss Now!™ framework — from the ground up, took it through years of revision, taught it in classrooms and full day teen sessions, and in 2025 began evolving it into something even bigger — Boss Factor 2.0, an AI Coach-assisted digital curriculum designed to meet the next generation exactly where they are.

And what am I most proud of? Honestly — I’m most proud that I didn’t quit. There were years when the doors weren’t opening. When the classes got cancelled. When people didn’t understand what I was building or why. But I kept going. And this year, as we celebrate the 10th Anniversary of Kids Rule Now! Inc. and I stand as a recipient of the Visionaries Award from the Education 2.0 Conference in Las Vegas— I can say with full confidence that staying the course was worth every single step.

I’m not just building programs. I’m building a legacy — one young boss at a time.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Youth entrepreneurship education is no longer a “nice to have” — it’s becoming a necessity. And I believe the next 5-10 years are going to confirm everything those of us in this space have been saying for years.

Here’s what I see coming — and in some cases, what’s already here.

The conversation around preparing young people for their future is shifting. The traditional path of go to school, get a job, work for someone else is no longer the only narrative being offered to young people — and that excites me.

More families, more educators, and more communities are beginning to embrace the idea that entrepreneurial thinking is a life skill. Not just for the child who wants to open a business — but for every child who will one day need to think creatively, solve problems, and lead with confidence.

I also see technology playing a massive role in how entrepreneurship education is delivered. That’s exactly why we began developing Boss Factor 2.0 — an AI Coach-assisted digital curriculum. The next generation of kidpreneurs is growing up in a digital world. Meeting them where they are isn’t optional anymore — it’s essential.

I believe we will also see a significant increase in youth entrepreneurship programming at the school and community level. The demand is growing. Parents are asking for it. Students are hungry for it. And organizations like Kids Rule Now! Inc. that has been doing this work consistently — long before it became a trend — are positioned to lead that charge.

What gives me the most hope though? The young people themselves. This generation is bold, creative, resourceful, and ready. They don’t need someone to hand them a blueprint — they need someone to show them they already have what it takes to create one.

That’s what we do. That’s what we’ve always done. And the next decade? I believe it’s going to be our most impactful one yet.
