Check Out Stephanie Martis’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephanie Martis.

Hi Stephanie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started crocheting in 2018, and my sister in law got me interested in it, and helped guide me !
I because instantly obsessed lol. I studied yarn, hooks, patterns, and saved a lot on Pinterest.
I practiced crocheting everyday, it became my full time favorite hobby! I made a lot of teacher gifts, donations, and gifts for my family and friends.

My first set up was June 2023 for our yard sales, and I sold one freeze pop cozy. It was a start!
My first vendor event with a tent was August of 2023 at family day in New Haven. My husband and everyone helped me! My son was little and he was not happy that someone was buying crocheted water balloons, it was so funny (not at the time lol.)

I loved every minute of being a vendor. I knew it was what I wanted to do!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a challenging road. I’ve been more introverted since having kids, and I have to put myself out there and talk to people a lot at markets.
Getting to know other vendors has been my favorite thing, and I learn so much at every show!
I was so lucky to start selling my work at the small business store, Liv a Little at Home in New Haven, in September of 2023. They really helped get my business name out there in the community.
I’ve put in a lot of work at markets, learning how to set up by myself, and I’ve worked on perfecting my setup lol- it’s never done!
One important thing is do not compare yourself to others. Cheer each other on, and you’ll both do better!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’ve been a crochet artist for 8 years.
I specialize in selling my work at small businesses, and being a vendor at markets.
I’ve become an every Sunday vendor at the New Baltimore Farmers Market, and it’s my favorite place to be. The people are great, the other vendors are so helpful, and I’ve just met so many nice people!
I also became an affiliate for my favorite plushy yarn, Knotty Ball yarn by Kayla’s Krafts. I have a discount code, Stephanie5, and it’s the best being able to be in a group with other big crochet artists!

I think what sets me apart is my variety of what I make.
I make stuffed animals, to blankets, and badge reels, coasters, hats, etc.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
They support me by shopping at Liv a Little at Home, Henderson Homestead, Four808 store, and at the market!
