Conversations with Van Kassab

Today we’d like to introduce you to Van Kassab.

Hi Van, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started my real estate career at the age of 40 years old after I moved back home from Chicago. I was a branch manager for Chase bank.

I came back home to Michigan to be with family again and start over .
2011 I got my real estate license and I built my entire real estate career by networking with hockey players.
At one point I would play up to 10 games a week with all different groups sometimes 4 games per day.
I did so well that I opened up a Remax office in the renaissance center in Detroit. All was going well until my father passed away and the. Covid hit. Once Covid I had to close shop and I had 2 back surgeries.

I was out of commission for real Eatate and I needed to make money so I started remodeling houses. That just blew up and took off. I have been doing that ever since.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road at all. I lost my father I had two major back surgeries, I lost all my working capital from a lawsuit with a government Contactor . I had to restart
My business all over again and I am doing well now.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We specialize in build decks , bathrooms, and kitchens. And on occasion I sell real estate.

We don’t just do decks, bathrooms , and kitchens. We do all kinds of remodeling but those are our core business.

How do you define success?
My wife is my strength and my why.. if she is happy I am successful.. Success is always having work and being referred by others. Not how much money you make.
