Rising Stars: Meet Olivia Sabellico of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Sabellico.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My journey as a nail artist began in 2020, during the height of the pandemic. What started as a creative hobby quickly became an outlet that allowed me to express myself through art.
I had always been a creative person, but I never truly found the medium that felt like home—until I discovered that my favorite canvas wasn’t a sheet of paper or a blank painting, but ten tiny little canvases at the tips of my fingers. That’s when I fell in love with nail artistry.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The journey hasn’t always been easy, and I’m still growing and learning every day. Over the past six years, I’ve experienced both challenges and accomplishments, worked on incredible projects, and had opportunities I once only dreamed about. Through it all, my love for creating has remained the driving force behind everything I do.

Looking back, I never imagined that what began as a hobby would become my life’s work, but I’m incredibly grateful it did. Nail artistry has given me purpose, challenged me to grow both personally and professionally, and allowed me to build a career I genuinely love. I’m excited to continue evolving as an artist and can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a licensed nail technician specializing in Gel-X extensions, natural nail care, and detailed nail artistry, including hand-painted and sculpted designs. I’m especially known for my crisp, timeless French tips—a signature look that’s clean, versatile, and never goes out of style.

Above all, I’m passionate about constantly growing as an artist and pushing myself creatively with every set I do. I strive for refinement and precision in my work, while also appreciating that true beauty in art isn’t always about perfection, but expression and intention.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about Detroit is the community and the incredible people I’ve had the chance to meet through my work. I get to sit with so many different women, hear their stories, and build real connections that go far beyond nails. I’m genuinely grateful for every client, conversation, and friendship that has come from this journey.

Detroit is a city full of culture, creativity, and resilience. It’s often overlooked, but it’s filled with talent and heart. Being able to grow my career in a place so rich in character has been something I deeply appreciate. Honestly, I don’t really have anything negative to say about the city. Like any place, it has its challenges, but my personal experience has been overwhelmingly positive, and I focus on the beauty and connection I’ve found here.

Pricing:

  • Gelx solid color set : $80
  • Gelx tier 1,2,3 & fine art: ranges from $100-200
  • Natural nail overlay solid color: $80
  • Natural nails tier 1,2,3 & fine art: ranges from $100-200
  • Gel-X and natural nail overlay services are priced similarly because both require a high level of skill, time, and product. While Gel-X comes with a pre-shaped extension, natural nail overlays require building and sculpting the nail from scratch using builder gel to create a smooth, durable foundation. This process often takes more precision, effort, and product, which is why the pricing is comparable.
