Check Out Maya Grayson-Green’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Grayson-Green.

Hi Maya, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a mother and wife who has a passion for fitness and building community. I am a woman of faith and despite some of the things I’ve been through I always keep a positive mindset and look forward to my “BIG NEXT”. I recently lost my job as a flight attendant with Spirit Airlines amidst the shutdown. I went through flight attendant training in Orlando, FL while pregnant with my son but I was determined to again, pursue a career that once brought me so much joy. After successfully completing training for 4 weeks and then having my son a few months later I found myself experiencing postpartum symptoms and I refused to allow myself to become stuck because I wanted to be the best me for not only for my son but for myself. I found a new passion for fitness and was active every day, no matter what, even if it meant taking my son to the gym with me. Two years after giving birth, I have now lost 70 pounds and am encouraging other women to start their fitness journey to put ourselves first and take on the lifestyle of wellness. I also have curated the upcoming Motor City Fit Fest bringing together some of Detroit’s fitness instructors, fitness enthusiasts and health and wellness brands. I am so grateful for the grace to live through every phase of life I have experienced and I truly believe that the best is yet to come!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road at all, especially from the outside looking in if I were to go down the list of some of the things I have endured. I married and divorced within a year to a man who moved me to Texas with him and I soon found out had no intention on being in a faithful, committed marriage.
I moved back home to be with my parents who both, soon after became ill. My mom was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2020 and my father contracted COVID-19 in 2020 and we almost lost him after being in the hospital 4 weeks.
My husband and I got married in the pandemic.
I lost my job with Spirit Airlines and am now unemployed while still trying to help other women and create a space for women to feel motivated and seen.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am now a creative who specializes in fitness and wellness. I am known for hosting community events focused on women. What sets me apart is that I am honestly driven by helping others and not looking for anything in return. If I could make every event that I do free I most certainly would. People always tell me I need to charge more or not let people attend for free but I don’t do what I do to make money from it I really just want to help people and give them the same chance someobody gave me.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Growing up I was very caring, usually to myself but always looking for how I can do something new and better myself. I was a part of many athletic teams and pursued a career in education to teach young children.
