Daily Inspiration: Meet Jeremiah McCurtis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jeremiah McCurtis.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
After Graduating from Wayne State University, I found myself working at LifeTime Gym as a personal trainer. A part of me wanted to leave, but something was telling me to stay, so I did. After 2 years I became the personal training manager, helping, growing and developing my team of trainers to become the best versions of themselves. Shortly after that, me and my business partner at the time decided to take a leap of faith and open our own gym in Canton MI. This really pushed me into true entrepreneurship, the pressure of succeeding or failing was all dependent on us. I grew so much during that time, the highs and the lows taught me so much, and I am forever grateful to be able to experience such things. Once our lease was up, me and my business partner decided to leave Canton and relocate. Another risk, but there’s no reward. without risk. From there we landed in Northville MI, with Pryde Athletics & Physical Therapy. A one stop shop of health and wellness, their dedication to providing such a unique plan of care for their patients during and after physical therapy is truly something to marvel at. Currently I am the director of personal training for Pryde Athletics & Physical therapy, overseeing any and all things personal training. I love what I do, and I love to coach people on the importance of health and wellness. Stop trying, start training is my slogan, I want people to understand that this is a lifestyle change and not just something you do for a season. As a leader in the business and in the Northville community I take my platform very seriously by always being in alignment and leading from the front.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I think the most damaging idea to any young entrepreneur or creative is the idea that the road will be easy or it will be “somewhat hard”. Expect the unexpected as you go through life, but don’t quit, don’t panic, remember who you are! Remember why you started on this journey in the first place. Give yourself grace and be kind to yourself, allow yourself breaks so you can reset and get back to what you love to do.

Struggles I experienced along the way will probably be no different than anyone else who decides to jump into being an entrepreneur full time. From self doubt, worry, business partners who don’t share the same vision as you is a huge one that I experienced. Even through all that I had to remind myself that God gave me the vision for a reason, and it’s my job to trust God and keep moving forward with the vision.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am the Director of Personal Training for Pryde Athletics & Physical Therapy. My job outside of coaching is to develop and manage my team of trainers. Also to bring forth what vision and standards we will implement into our brand. I have a background in physical therapy and athletic performance. I worked with a variety of different populations, from knee/hip replacement patients, TBI (Terminal brain injury) patients, as well as professional basketball players. Outside of that I love creating content on social media, whether it’s funny or educational, I love to engage and show my followers what I’m up to.

I am most proud of being a first generation graduate from Wayne State University, seeing how proud my parents were meant the world to me.

What sets me apart from most trainers/coaches is my diverse background and my business management skills. A lot of coaches get into the training business because they love to help others, which is amazing. However a lot of coaches never stay in the business due to the lack of business management and organization skills, which can make training hard and can cause many trainers to fall out of love with it. In short, I’m your trainers trainer. I help education trainers on how to create and sustain a profitable training business.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I could sit here and type all day about everyone who has helped me along the way! From my former business partner Dylan, who is an excellent coach and business mentor, to my Lifetime family who believed in my leadership skills, even when I didn’t believe in myself. My mom, Dad for always encouraging me to stay focus, stay the course, trust God’s plan for your life. Helping me out with my school bills also, they invested so much in me and I am forever grateful for their continuation in growing and pouring into their 9 children. I also want to give credit to my clients who gave me a chance and trusted me with their health and fitness goals. I remember just having 1 client, now my books are full! From the continuous referrals and word of mouth marketing they do! I wanna thank Ivan and Eros, owners of Pryde Athletics & Physical Therapy for entrusting me to lead and take their personal training department to another level, I am forever grateful!

Which goes to show you that no one is “Self-made” everyone has had someone who has helped and trusted you to get the job done!
