Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayme Orr.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story is really a blend of creativity, entrepreneurship, and a deepening walk in faith. I started out in music—writing, performing, and building my own brand as an artist. That was my first experience with creating something from nothing and learning how to show up consistently, even when things were uncertain.
Over time, I expanded into other areas of business, including recruiting and leadership roles, which taught me how to build systems, work with people, and create income in practical ways. But even with all of that, I always felt like I was still searching for something more grounded and aligned.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve really rededicated my life to my faith. That shift has impacted everything—how I live, how I raise my daughter, and what I choose to pursue. I’ve become much more intentional about making sure that what I’m building reflects what I believe and the values I want to pass on.
That’s where The Good Work Co. comes in. It’s not just a business idea—it’s a natural extension of where I am right now. I’m in a season of building, refining, and stepping forward in obedience, and this brand is part of that. It allows me to combine my creative background with a clear purpose: to create something that points back to truth and encourages others to live that out.
Right now, it’s just getting off the ground, which makes it an exciting place to be. I’m growing it in real time while balancing motherhood, work, and everyday life. I don’t have every step mapped out, but I do have a strong sense of direction—and I’m committed to continuing the work and seeing where it leads.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. In a lot of ways, this has been a long time coming.
I actually had the idea for an online store sitting in my mind for almost two years before I did anything with it. I would come back to it, think about it, even start to plan it out—but I kept putting it off. Part of that was fear, part of it was timing, and part of it was just trying to manage everything else I had going on.
Being a single mom has also shaped this journey in a big way. There isn’t a lot of extra time or margin, so every decision matters. I’m balancing motherhood, work, and building something new at the same time, which can feel stretched at times.
One of the biggest shifts came when I made the decision to fully honor the biblical Sabbath. For me, that meant stepping away from Saturday music gigs, which had been a consistent source of income. That choice led to a real drop in my income almost immediately. It wasn’t an easy decision, but it was an important one in my walk of obedience.
That season forced me to rethink everything—how I earn, what I build, and where I place my trust. It created pressure, but it also created clarity. Instead of continuing to delay the idea, I finally moved forward with The Good Work Co.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth, but the challenges have been part of what pushed me to take action. They’ve refined my focus and strengthened my faith, and ultimately, they’re a big part of why this business exists now instead of staying just an idea.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Good Work Co.?
The Good Work Co. is a faith-based apparel brand focused on creating scripture-driven, family-centered pieces that are both meaningful and practical for everyday life. At its core, the brand is about helping people live out their faith intentionally—not just privately, but in a way that’s visible and impactful.
What I do is design and produce apparel that is rooted in Scripture and created to edify, encourage, and start conversations. These aren’t just aesthetic pieces or trend-based designs—they’re meant to carry truth, spark dialogue, and serve as a daily reminder of what we’re called to as believers.
One thing that really sets The Good Work Co. apart is the level of intention behind every product. None of the designs are generated by AI—everything is created thoughtfully and purposefully. In a space where it’s easy to mass-produce and automate, I’ve chosen to keep the process personal and hands-on.
Quality is also a major priority. All of our pieces are made from 100% cotton, which not only makes them comfortable and durable, but also aligns with my values around natural, honest materials.
Another key distinction is the focus on family. This isn’t just individual apparel—it’s designed with the home in mind. I want these pieces to be worn by parents and children alike, reinforcing truth across generations and creating opportunities for conversations within families and with others.
What I want readers to understand is that the name “The Good Work Co.” comes from Philippians 1:6—the promise that God is faithful to complete the good work He begins in us. At the same time, we are created for good works that glorify Him. This brand lives in that tension and that purpose: God working in us, and us walking that out in obedience. Everything I create is meant to reflect that truth.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
One of the most important characteristics behind my growth is a strong hunger for personal development. I’m consistently looking for ways to improve—whether that’s in my mindset, my habits, my skills, or my faith. I don’t approach growth as something optional; it’s a daily discipline.
That mindset has helped me navigate challenges, pivot when needed, and keep moving forward even when things aren’t clear or easy. It’s also what keeps me grounded—making sure that as I build externally, I’m also being refined internally.
