Hidden Gems: Meet Daisy Meza of Massages By Daisy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daisy Meza.

Daisy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My journey started with a simple desire to help people. I’ve always felt that my hands and my heart were meant to care for others, which led me to attend Irene’s Myomassology Institute and pursue a career in massage therapy.

Like many small business owners, I started very humbly. I had a simple treatment room in my home where I began working with clients one-on-one. I loved being able to help people feel better, whether they were dealing with pain, stress, or recovering from procedures. As my experience grew, I transitioned to working in a chiropractor’s office, where I gained even more hands-on experience and learned the importance of treating the body as a whole.

My passion for learning eventually took me beyond the United States. I traveled and trained with practitioners from different parts of Latin America, studying specialized techniques that focused on lymphatic health, body contouring, and post-operative recovery. One technique that completely changed my career was Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage, a technique I later further developed under the mentorship and training of Josie Rushing, whose influence helped shape my approach and passion for this work. I fell in love with the results it provided and dedicated myself to mastering the technique through continued education and hands-on experience. In 2023, I was honored to receive international recognition for my work and was awarded as one of the Top 5 Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage practitioners in the world.

Over time, I realized I wanted to do more. I wanted to create an experience and level of care that reflected my own vision and passion for healing. That desire led me to start my own business, Massages by Daisy, in Troy, Michigan.

What began as a small treatment room has grown into a thriving wellness and post-operative recovery practice with a growing team. Today, we specialize in lymphatic drainage, post-operative care, body contouring, and wellness services. One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been earning the trust of both clients and medical professionals. We now work alongside and receive referrals from doctors and surgeons who recognize the value of specialized lymphatic care in the recovery process.

Looking back, I’m grateful for every step of the journey—from working out of my home, to expanding my education around the world, to building a respected business in Troy. None of it happened overnight, but every experience helped shape who I am today. At the heart of it all is the same mission I’ve had from the beginning: helping people heal, feel confident, and reconnect with their bodies through compassionate, specialized care.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely has not been a smooth road, but every challenge has taught me something valuable. Knowing how to provide a great service is one thing, but learning how to run a successful business is a completely different skill set. Along the way, I’ve had to learn about finances, marketing, customer service, leadership, and all the behind-the-scenes responsibilities that come with being a business owner.

One of the biggest challenges has been building a business as a single Latina mother. There were many moments when I had to balance raising my children while also growing my career and pursuing my vision. I didn’t come from a business background, so much of what I’ve learned came through experience, trial and error, and a willingness to keep showing up even when things were difficult.

Another challenge was earning credibility—not only with clients, but also within the medical community. Building trust takes time, consistency, and results. I had to prove myself through my work, continue my education, and establish professional relationships with doctors and surgeons who now recognize the value of specialized lymphatic and post-operative care.

There were times when I wore every hat in the business and had to figure things out as I went. Building a client base, managing growth, hiring a team, and learning from mistakes were all part of the process. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve experienced moments of uncertainty and self-doubt, but I never lost sight of why I started.

Everything I have today, I worked very hard to obtain. Nothing was handed to me, and every milestone represents years of dedication, sacrifice, and perseverance. While the journey hasn’t always been easy, it has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing how far Massages by Daisy has come—from a small treatment room in my home to a growing business that is trusted by clients, doctors, and surgeons—makes every obstacle worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Massages By Daisy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Massages by Daisy is a wellness and post-operative recovery practice located in Troy, Michigan. We specialize in Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage, post-operative lymphatic care, body contouring, and therapeutic wellness services designed to help clients heal, recover, and feel their best.

What started as a one-woman operation has grown into a practice with a dedicated team that shares the same passion for providing exceptional care and results. We work with a wide variety of clients, from individuals seeking wellness and stress relief to post-surgical patients recovering from procedures such as tummy tucks, BBLs, liposuction, arm lifts, and other cosmetic surgeries.

We are especially known for our Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage treatments and our specialized post-operative recovery programs. Our goal is not only to help clients look better, but to support proper healing, reduce discomfort, improve circulation, minimize swelling, and help them feel more confident throughout their recovery journey.

What sets us apart is our personalized approach. Every client receives individualized care based on their needs, goals, and stage of healing. We believe that education is just as important as treatment, so we take the time to explain the recovery process and empower our clients with the knowledge they need to achieve the best possible results.

While we are well known for our post-operative recovery programs, many people are surprised to learn that Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage is also available for non-surgical clients. Our full-body Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage service starts at $160 and is designed to support circulation, reduce bloating and water retention, promote relaxation, and enhance the body’s natural detoxification process. It’s a great option for anyone looking to feel lighter, refreshed, and more connected to their overall wellness.

At the end of the day, Massages by Daisy is about more than massages. It’s about helping people feel supported, cared for, and confident in their bodies during some of their most vulnerable moments. Whether someone is recovering from surgery, focusing on their wellness, or investing in self-care, we want every client who walks through our doors to feel seen, heard, and genuinely cared for.

What matters most to you? Why?
Beyond post-operative care, I’m passionate about changing the way people view lymphatic drainage. I don’t see it as an occasional luxury treatment—I see it as an important part of overall wellness and preventative health. Just as people prioritize exercise, healthy eating, chiropractic care, or regular medical checkups, I believe lymphatic health deserves a place in that conversation as well.

One of the things I hope to accomplish through my work is educating people on the importance of being proactive with their health. When we support the lymphatic system, we’re supporting circulation, recovery, inflammation management, and overall well-being. My vision is for lymphatic drainage to become a normal part of self-care and wellness routines, not something people only seek after surgery or when a problem arises.

At the heart of everything we do at Massages by Daisy is the belief that people should feel empowered to take control of their health, recovery, and confidence. Helping clients feel better, move better, heal better, and ultimately live better is what continues to inspire me every day.
