In 2020, I made the decision to take my health seriously. At the time, I weighed 220 pounds and felt uncomfortable not just physically, but mentally. I had always desired to feel strong, confident, and free in my body, but I didn’t know where to start. More than anything, I wanted a fresh start in life overall.
Instead of searching for a quick fix, I decided to focus on the basics what being healthy truly meant to me. That started with small habits: walking consistently, drinking more water, paying attention to what I was eating, and learning discipline over motivation. I wasn’t chasing perfection. I was learning consistency.
Over time, those small daily decisions led to a 70-pound weight loss, but the physical transformation wasn’t the most powerful part. The real change was mental. I built patience. I developed resilience. I learned how to meet myself where I was instead of punishing myself for not being further ahead.
That journey inspired me to create Trina Fit and write my first book, Lose Weight Naturally Without Punishing Yourself. My mission now is to help others understand that sustainable weight loss isn’t about extremes or shortcuts it’s about identity, discipline, and small habits that build real change.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. There were many times I started over, doubted myself, and questioned whether I could actually lose the weight. I struggled with temptation around food, comparison, and the constant desire to see fast results. One of my biggest challenges was thinking I had to do extreme workouts or follow intense routines to lose weight quickly. When the results didn’t come immediately, it was discouraging.
Losing weight naturally requires patience, and that was hard for me at first. I wanted the weight gone right away. I had to learn that sustainable change doesn’t happen overnight. It happens in small, consistent decisions.
Another challenge was not always having support. There were moments where I felt like I was doing it alone. But over time, I learned how to meet myself where I was instead of punishing myself for not being further along.
I discovered what foods worked for my body, what forms of movement felt sustainable, and how to build discipline rather than rely on motivation. Even today, growth is still a process. But I kept pushing forward, and most importantly, I didn’t give up on myself.
