Today we’d like to introduce you to Paige Mitchell.
Hi Paige, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started photographing weddings as a second shooter with my cousin who taught me everything I know over 10 years ago! She showed me everything about how to properly expose photos, adapt to less than ideal circumstances, and most importantly, how to make a bride and groom feel at ease on the most special day of their lives. I loved wedding days and loved celebrating love. I took a little hiatus from photography and officially opened up my LLC about a year and a half ago. The couples I’ve met through this career are my “why”. I feel so blessed to connect with so many amazing couples!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There’s always more to learn! Building a business from the ground up and learning what works and doesn’t work with my marketing has been such a learning curve. As a business owner, I am always trying to get my work in front of people. With photography, you’re not just selling a product, you’re selling an experience. I can put my work in front of people and that’s helpful but I think my strongest skill as a photographer is creating an enjoyable experience DURING the photos. Communicating that to potential clients is sometimes tricky for me to accurately explain.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am a wedding photographer serving the Midwest and beyond.
My mission is to create images rooted in emotion, memory, and authenticity. Each photograph is thoughtfully composed to reflect the individuality of my clients, transforming fleeting moments into timeless visual narratives. The responsibility of preserving these memories, exactly as they felt, is one I approach with intention and care.
Being welcomed into the most personal moments of my clients’ lives is both a privilege and a responsibility. With a calm, observant presence, I document wedding days as they naturally unfold.
I aim to lead my clients to walk into their wedding day with confidence, knowing that every moment, from the quiet pauses to the unforgettable celebrations, will be captured with purpose, artistry, and emotional depth.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
I was fortunate to have family that naturally introduced me to my craft. I was inspired by an individual at my wedding I photographed yesterday though. She asked the bride if she could tag along and just watch me work and ask questions if time allowed. The bride loved the idea and I did too! I can’t speak for everyone, but my hope is that most small business owners love to see the same drive in others that got them to where they are today. As a creative, I know there is enough room for all of us. We all offer something unique. There’s no need to worry about competition if you’re confident that the clients who want YOU see your special talents and value.
