Today we’d like to introduce you to Lecette Mena.
Hi Lecette, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always loved capturing memories through photographs.I was the person taking pictures and documenting special moments because I never wanted those memories to fade.
Everything changed when I got engaged and married. For the first time, I was on the other side of the camera being professionally photographed, and I was so excited to receive my gallery. When I saw those images, I realized how powerful photography truly is. Time seemed to stand still in those photographs, and I was able to relive some of the most meaningful moments of my life all over again.
Shortly after getting married, I welcomed my first son, Alexander. He became the inspiration behind taking photography more seriously. Wanting to preserve every stage of his life, I decided to invest in myself and my dream by purchasing my first mirrorless camera. The timing couldn’t have been better because Alexander became my perfect subject as I learned the ins and outs of photography.
As my skills and confidence grew, I began sharing my work on social media. The positive feedback and encouragement I received motivated me to keep learning and improving. What started as a desire to document my own family’s memories grew into a passion for helping others preserve their most meaningful moments as well.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many photographers starting out, I faced a lot of self-doubt along the way. I struggled with imposter syndrome and often felt like I didn’t belong in the photography space. I questioned whether my work was good enough and whether I deserved to charge people for something I loved doing. Social media added another layer of challenge because it was easy to compare my work and journey to photographers who were further ahead than I was.
Over time, I learned that growth comes from practice, experience, and trusting the process. I had to stop comparing my beginning to someone else’s middle and focus on my own progress. As I continued photographing families, weddings, and milestones, I started to see the value in what I was creating. Eventually, I was able to get out of my own head, recognize how much I had grown, and understand that my work had value.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in weddings, families, and life’s meaningful milestones. My photography style combines natural light, warmth, to create timeless images that you’ll treasure for years to come. While I provide gentle guidance throughout each session, I also love capturing the genuine, candid moments that reflect real connection and emotion.
Whether I’m photographing a wedding day, a growing family, or a graduating senior, my goal is always the same: to create images that bring you back to how those moments felt. I want you to look at your photographs and feel joy, love, and connection—images you’ll proudly display in your home and cherish for generations.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I don’t consider myself someone who takes reckless risks, but I do believe that growth often requires stepping outside of your comfort zone. For me, risk-taking is about trusting your vision, investing in yourself, and being willing to pursue opportunities even when there are no guarantees.
One of the biggest risks I’ve taken was turning my passion for photography into a business. Building a photography business requires significant investments of time, energy, and resources, often before you know what the outcome will be. From investing in equipment and education to putting my work out into the world and building a brand from the ground up,
