Meet Dominic Mosher of Michigan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominic Mosher.

Hi Dominic, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started my audio production business out of my step-sister’s spare bedroom when I didn’t have a place of my own. It was difficult because I wanted to bring my clients into a professional space but at the same because I was just getting started I didn’t have the funds to rent out nice studios that had all the gear and proper space that I wanted. Despite that, I still had clients coming to work with me and telling me how great of an experience it was working together. That client experience is what helped me get the studio I have today that I couldn’t be more thankful for. It inspires me every day to keep going and deliver the absolute best experience I can to all clients of Mosher Audio.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Trying to grow the business has been anything but smooth as is the case with most businesses I’ve found. There’s been lots of ups and downs but the journey has been absolutely worth it every step of the way. This is a very competitive business so you have to be at the absolute top of your game when the market has lots of choice. You have to bring something to the table that makes you unique. Every experience, good or bad, is a lesson and you can either let it deter you and make you feel like giving up, or motivate you and drive you to keep going. I love what I do and every chance I get to work on music with amazing talented people is an awesome day in my book.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
For most of my work that I do I wear the hat of music producer and mixer. It is my sole responsibility to make sure that the song comes out sounding the absolute best it possibly can. Every part of the song has to add to the overall experience and take nothing away. If there’s any moment where you’re taken out of the listening experience that’s a tell tale sign it’s not quite finished yet and needs a bit more attention. What I’m honestly most proud of is the fact my music has gotten into multiple tv shows and sporting events, it was very surreal for me at first when it happened. I was able to go on streaming and watch this true crime show where they used my song at the very end of the episode at the climax of the story. I was ecstatic and felt so incredibly proud of the work I had done. I don’t think what sets me apart is that I work harder than everyone else. It’s my taste and judgment. I spend a lot of time developing my ear for what serves the song and what doesn’t, and that helps me make decisions that elevate the final product.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as a kind of creative alchemy. It’s when you’ve spent enough time developing your craft that you can bring to life what you hear in your head, and you’re fortunate enough to be in a room with people who elevate each other’s ideas. Success isn’t just the outcome—it’s being able to create meaningful work with the right people and feeling like you’re exactly where you’re meant to be. To me, success is when the gap between what you imagine and what you’re capable of creating keeps getting smaller.
