Today we’d like to introduce you to P One Entertainment.
Hi P One Entertainment , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
P One Entertainment was founded by husband-and-wife team Slym Beno and Alex Wilson. P One stands for “Purposeful Opportunities Never End,” a phrase that reflects both our mission and our personal journey. We created P One Entertainment to build meaningful opportunities for artists, entrepreneurs, and community members through entertainment, networking, artist development, and community engagement.
Originally from Cleveland, Ohio, we relocated to Michigan in search of new opportunities and a better future for our family. During that transition, we experienced one of the most defining seasons of our lives. While trying to establish ourselves in a new state, we moved from hotel to hotel and Airbnb to Airbnb, uncertain about where life would take us next.
One of those temporary stays happened to be in Kalamazoo. We spent about two weeks in an Airbnb there and remember thinking it was a nice city, but we had no idea that it would eventually become home. At the time, it was simply another stop on a difficult journey. Looking back now, we realize that God was already positioning us for what was ahead. Through faith, perseverance, and a commitment to keep moving forward, we were eventually blessed with a home and found ourselves returning to Kalamazoo, where we continue building our vision today.
Our story is proof that purpose is not determined by your circumstances. Sometimes the greatest opportunities are being prepared during the seasons when you can’t yet see the bigger picture.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many entrepreneurs, our journey has been filled with challenges, but perhaps our greatest challenge was navigating homelessness while building a future for our family. During this period, Alex was pregnant with our daughter, and every day came with uncertainty. We were trying to provide stability, pursue our goals, and prepare for parenthood while not knowing exactly where we would be living next.
There were moments when the pressure felt overwhelming. Financial struggles, setbacks, closed doors, and unexpected obstacles tested us in ways we never anticipated. Building a business while trying to establish a stable foundation for our family required determination, sacrifice, and faith.
However, those challenges became some of our greatest teachers. They forced us to become resourceful, resilient, and grateful. They also gave us a deeper understanding of what it means to overcome adversity. Today, those experiences help us connect with others who may be facing their own struggles because we understand firsthand what it means to keep going when circumstances seem impossible.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
P One Entertainment exists to create purposeful opportunities through entertainment, artist development, and community engagement. We believe entertainment should do more than entertain—it should inspire, connect people, and create positive impact.
Led by Alex, who also serves as the current manager of Slym Beno, a dynamic hip-hop artist, P One Entertainment functions not only as an entertainment company but also as a music company dedicated to developing and advancing artists’ careers. The company is actively supporting Slym Beno’s music career and has plans to release several more projects, with his debut release, “The Big P EP” released Nov 2025. P One Entertainment also plans to expand its artist roster while continuing to provide artist development, artist management, marketing services for artists and companies, and event curation.
One of our signature platforms is Spotlight Thursdays, a competition showcase and artist development platform that gives emerging artists an opportunity to perform, grow, receive feedback, and build their presence. Unlike a traditional open mic, Spotlight Thursdays is designed to challenge artists while helping them develop professionally and expand their networks.
We have also partnered with DJ Certified and GrindTime Enterprises Inc. to help build and expand community-focused platforms such as Spotlight Thursdays and Mic’s For Meals. These collaborations have allowed us to bring together artists, businesses, and community members while creating opportunities that benefit both performers and the community as a whole.
Mic’s For Meals is especially meaningful because it combines entertainment with service. Through live performances and community participation, we help collect food donations and support families in need. It represents our belief that entertainment can be a powerful vehicle for giving back and making a difference.
Whether through showcases, networking events, community initiatives, or artist development opportunities, our goal remains the same: to create spaces where people can discover opportunities, build relationships, and move closer to their purpose.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
One of the most valuable lessons we’ve learned is the importance of accountability. Growth requires honesty with yourself. We’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding mistakes—it’s about taking responsibility for them, learning from them, and continuing to improve.
We’ve also learned the importance of humility. Throughout our journey, we’ve had people who believed in us, supported us, challenged us, and helped us grow. Staying teachable and recognizing that success is never achieved alone has been essential to our development as both business owners and individuals.
Another lesson has been sacrifice. Building something meaningful often requires giving up comfort, convenience, and immediate rewards in exchange for long-term vision. There were many moments when we invested our time, resources, and energy into a dream that others couldn’t yet see. Those sacrifices helped create the foundation we continue to build upon today.
Above all, we’ve learned the importance of staying rooted in our faith in God. Faith carried us through seasons of uncertainty, homelessness, financial hardship, and difficult decisions. It taught us to trust the process even when we couldn’t see the outcome. Our faith continues to guide how we lead, serve, and approach every opportunity. It reminds us that purpose is bigger than circumstances and that every challenge can become part of a greater story.
