Inspiring Conversations with Sheana Kizer of Ted Kizer Foundation and Kizer & Co.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheana Kizer.

Hi Sheana , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My journey is driven by a singular mission: to ensure that others have the tools and support to navigate life’s challenges and build their own legacies. As a first-generation college graduate, I learned early on that success requires both grit and strategy, a lesson I carry with me every day, inspired by my parents who were both entrepreneurs.

While my background in Digital Product Management gave me the technical expertise to streamline complex systems, my true purpose manifested in the creation of the Ted Kizer Foundation. The foundation is at the heart of everything I do; it represents my commitment to providing the funding and holistic resources necessary to help individuals and families navigate their own recovery and growth journeys.

While I continue to provide high-level strategy to entrepreneurs through Kizer & Co., that work serves as an extension of my belief that professional success should always empower a larger purpose. Today, whether I am advocating through the foundation, writing, or coaching through my Jewels life coach and mentoring initiative, I am focused on one thing: helping people turn their vision into a sustainable reality.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
To be honest, it has been anything but a smooth road. Building a legacy, especially one that aims to support others in their own recovery, requires walking through your own fires first.

The most difficult chapter was losing my father, who was my best friend, to his battle with alcohol addiction. That loss was devastating, but it became the catalyst for my commitment to the Ted Kizer Foundation. Seeing him struggle taught me more about the need for compassion, holistic support, and systemic change than any textbook ever could. His life and his battle are the heartbeat behind the foundation’s mission today.

Professionally, the road has also had its obstacles. Navigating corporate spaces as a Black woman often meant having to work twice as hard to be heard, and transitioning into entrepreneurship brought its own steep learning curve of managing operations while staying true to my vision. There were many moments of uncertainty, late nights, and hard lessons in resilience.

But looking back, every struggle was worth the wisdom gained. They weren’t just hurdles; they were the training ground that prepared me to lead with empathy and precision. I wouldn’t trade the pain for an easier path, because it has brought me to the joy of truly walking in my purpose today, helping others turn their vision into a reality.

We’ve been impressed with Ted Kizer Foundation and Kizer & Co., but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the core of everything I do is the Ted Kizer Foundation. The Ted Kizer Foundation is here to live out Ted’s spirit of love and laughter by providing holistic support to individuals and families impacted by all forms of addiction. This organization represents my deepest commitment to social impact and legacy; we provide the support necessary to help individuals and families navigate life’s most challenging recovery and growth journeys. It is a promise kept, a way to honor the legacy of my father, and a vehicle for real change.

What sets the Foundation apart is our holistic approach. We focus on the human element of recovery, ensuring that those we serve feel empowered to build their own sustainable legacies.

My work at Kizer & Co. occupies a distinct space in my life. It is where I provide high-level business strategy and concierge-level operational support to entrepreneurs who are building their own success. My specialization there lies in the precision and technical expertise I honed in Product Management.

What I am most proud of is that I have cultivated the capacity to lead these two distinct paths simultaneously with excellence. I believe that being a high-level business strategist and a dedicated philanthropist are not mutually exclusive; they are two sides of my professional identity.

I want your readers to know that whether they are collaborating with Kizer & Co., receiving coaching through Jewels, or supporting the Ted Kizer Foundation, they are engaging with a commitment to integrity, strategy, and the belief that professional success is most meaningful when it is used to serve others.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
If I had to pinpoint what has been most important to my success, it is undoubtedly my faith. It has been my anchor in the most uncertain seasons and the guiding light that keeps me aligned with my purpose. Beyond my faith, my success is built on the values of love and kindness that I learned from my parents; they are the most loving, kind people I have ever met, and they taught me that how you treat people is just as important as what you achieve.

These core values are what fueled my focus and determination. In a world that often prioritizes speed or status, my upbringing taught me that if you operate from a place of genuine care, your work takes on a different level of integrity. Whether I am navigating the complexities of business or providing support through the foundation, I rely on that blend of spiritual grounding and the deep empathy my parents modeled for me. It is that combination, the drive to achieve combined with the heart to serve, that allows me to stay the course, no matter the challenges.
