Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Francis.
Hi Emily, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I can remember becoming interested in cosmetology during my years at Chippewa Valley highschool. Bless my gfs, they would let me experiment on them before I had a clue what I was doing. I built a project in a creative writing class identifying what my own salon would look like as I dreamed of the freedom that comes with business ownership. My mom encouraged me to go to Paul Mitchell’s cosmetology school and the rest is history. I’ve been operating NV BEAUTY STUDIO since 2019 and it’s been a rewarding experience.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s been a struggle most of the time, honestly. Business ownership is tough when it’s only you behind the scenes. I’ve had to learn how to navigate spaces like social media marketing, accounting, taxes, all while continuing my education in cosmetology.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in color and keratin treatments. I think though, what I’m most proud of are the connections I’ve established along the way. I know that my clients trust me, they invite me into their lives, their homes, and some of their most cherished moments and memories, I get to be a part of that and I think that’s really cool.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
I wouldn’t be anywhere without the help of my friends and family. My first job as a stylist working with Stephanie Gearheart, she saw potential in me and hired me as a full time stylist in her salon. There, I learned A LOT and was surrounded by really impressive and talented artists, some of whom I still talk to today.
