Meet Thy Nguyen of Mitten Chiropractic LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Thy Nguyen.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I truly believe it’s a God thing. Chiropractic was never originally part of my plan. There are only about 18 accredited chiropractic schools in the United States, and at the time, I really did not want to go out of state for school. In fact, I didn’t even receive my first chiropractic adjustment until I was in chiropractic school.

During my undergraduate studies in athletic training, I knew I wanted to continue my education, but I only had about three months left before graduation and still had no idea what my next step would be. Then, out of nowhere, I met a few different chiropractors and had the opportunity to shadow in their offices.

I was amazed by how hands-on they were with their patients and how many different health conditions they were helping people with every day. Seeing the impact they made completely changed my perspective. Something about it just clicked with me.

So, I decided to apply to chiropractic school and the rest is history.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely has not been a completely smooth road, but I truly believe the challenges helped shape me into the doctor and person I am today. Chiropractic school itself was very demanding academically, mentally, and physically. There were long hours studying, learning new techniques, and constantly being pushed outside of my comfort zone.

One of the biggest struggles was stepping into something so unfamiliar. Since I didn’t grow up around chiropractic and had very little exposure to it before school, there were moments of self-doubt and uncertainty. Opening and growing a practice also came with its own challenges. Learning the business side of healthcare, building trust within the community, and balancing the responsibilities of being both a doctor and a business owner.

As you know, we’re big fans of Mitten Chiropractic LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Mitten Chiropractic LLC was built with the goal of creating a welcoming, patient-centered office where people feel heard, cared for, and truly supported in their health journey. We focus on helping patients not only get out of pain, but also improve their overall function, mobility, and quality of life through natural chiropractic care.

We had the incredible opportunity to take over the office of a retiring chiropractor who had served the community for over 40 years. Carrying on that legacy of care is something we are extremely honored and proud to do. It’s been very meaningful to continue serving generations of families while also bringing new energy, growth, and wellness-focused care to the practice.

Our office cares for a wide variety of patients, from newborns and children to athletes, pregnant moms, working adults, and seniors. We commonly help patients dealing with neck pain, back pain, headaches, sciatica, posture issues, sports injuries, and chronic tension, but we also focus heavily on preventative wellness care and helping patients maintain a healthier lifestyle long-term.

What sets us apart is the atmosphere and relationships we build with our patients. We strive to make every person who walks through our doors feel like family. We take time to listen, educate, and create individualized care plans rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. We also pride ourselves on being very hands-on and involved in our patients’ progress every step of the way.

Another thing that makes our office unique is our strong connection to the community. Supporting local events, schools, families, and organizations is a huge part of who we are. We truly believe healthcare should extend beyond the walls of the clinic and positively impact the community as a whole.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the trust we’ve built. Seeing patients refer their friends and family, bring their children in for care, and continue choosing us means everything to us. We want people to know that our mission goes far beyond just adjustments. We genuinely want to help people live healthier, happier lives and feel empowered in their health journey. Their win is our win!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
One of the biggest risks I took was pursuing chiropractic in the first place. It was never part of my original plan, and I entered the profession with very little exposure to it beforehand. Choosing to go to chiropractic school, invest years into education, and step into a completely unfamiliar career path definitely felt risky at the time.

Another major leap was moving to Alabama after graduation to work in a chiropractic office that truly helped shape me as a doctor and business owner. Leaving home and starting over in a new state was intimidating, but it ended up being one of the most valuable experiences for my growth. That office gave me hands-on experience not only in treating patients, but also in understanding how to successfully run and manage a practice. I learned so much about patient care, leadership, communication, and what it takes to build a strong office culture.

Another major risk was eventually taking over a retiring chiropractor’s office that had been established in the community for over 40 years. There was a lot of responsibility that came with that. Patients had built trust and relationships there for decades, and I understood the importance of honoring that legacy while also bringing my own vision and approach into the practice. Starting and growing a business always comes with uncertainty, pressure, and sacrifices, but I believed in the mission and the impact we could make.

My perspective on risk is that growth usually happens outside of your comfort zone. Some of the best opportunities in my life came from moments where I felt uncertain but chose to move forward anyway. I’ve learned that faith, hard work, and consistency can carry you through a lot of unknowns. Even when things are challenging, I try to view risks as opportunities to grow, learn, and ultimately become better personally and professionally.
