Check Out Kevin Lahvic’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Lahvic.

Hi Kevin, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I feel very blessed that I am an artist, especially so in that I have always known I am an artist. That recognition is literally part of my earliest childhood memories. In many significant ways, “where I am today” is exactly the same place I started, an artist. Of course, being able to turn that identity into a profession is a blessing of another sort. I can’t help but feel that I am getting away with something every day being able to do this for a living.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I’m not sure a rich life can be smooth. Life’s essence is struggle. Being an artist is to react to that. We are constantly being impacted by the chaos around us and through our expressions attempting to make sense of it all, to put the world in order. It’s a task that can never be fully accomplished. There is always more to do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love all types of expression, but I am primarily known as a visual artist, a painter.

Everything I do creatively is an attempt to connect with people, to put something positive into the world with the simple goal of giving the viewer a feeling of happiness.

Personally, the process, the act of creating is where I find happiness. It’s marvelous when the end product of doing that brings happiness to others. Each time that happens it’s like witnessing a little miracle.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
AI seems to be the big topic on everyone’s mind at the moment. It’s really difficult to predict how that will ultimately impact the arts, but I will say that I think that fear that AI will eliminate creative occupations is wildly overblown. Creativity is uniquely human, and while it’s amazing to see how quickly AI can create images, write, etc., I believe eventually it will be human artists using the tool that AI is who will really be creating truly mind blowing work with that tool.
