Hidden Gems: Meet Keia Barlow of The Stylish Sanctuary Home Company

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keia Barlow.

Hi Keia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Starting an interior decorating business as a young adult with no entrepreneurial experience while being a full-time student and stepping away from a full-time job has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding journeys of my life. Throughout this season, I’ve been navigating life, discovering who I am, strengthening my relationship with the Lord, and overcoming unseen obstacles. There were moments when fear arose, self-doubt crept in, and I questioned whether I was capable of building something of my own. But despite the uncertainty, I chose faith over fear and officially launched my business in March 2026 — a decision that marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with growth, purpose, and perseverance.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely was not a smooth road. One of the biggest struggles I came across was learning how to believe in myself while building something I had never done before. I was balancing school full time, adjusting to life after stepping away from a full-time job, and trying to grow a business at the same time. There were moments when everything felt uncertain financially, mentally, and emotionally.
I struggled with fear of failure, comparison, and feeling inexperienced in entrepreneurship. Watching others seem more established sometimes made me question whether I was truly ready. There were also unseen obstacles behind the scenes — lack of guidance, overthinking decisions, managing time, and trying not to lose myself in the pressure of succeeding.

Some days I felt motivated and confident, while other days I doubted everything. But through every challenge, my relationship with the Lord kept me grounded. Prayer, patience, and perseverance helped me continue even when I could not fully see the outcome.

The road has been filled with lessons rather than perfection. It taught me resilience, discipline, faith, and the importance of trusting the process even when it feels uncomfortable. Although it has not been easy, every obstacle has shaped me into a stronger person and business owner.

We’ve been impressed with The Stylish Sanctuary Home Company , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What people should know about me is that my brand was built on passion, faith, creativity, and the desire to create spaces that make people feel at home. I started this journey as a young entrepreneur with little experience in business but a strong vision and determination to turn my creativity into something meaningful.
As an interior decorator, I specialize in creating stylish, functional, and comforting spaces that reflect my clients’ personalities and lifestyles. I focus on transforming spaces in a way that feels intentional, elevated, and personal whether it’s through décor styling, room transformations, color coordination, or creating environments that bring peace and confidence into a home.

What sets me apart is the heart behind my work. I don’t just decorate spaces — I create experiences and environments that tell a story. I value authenticity, attention to detail, and building genuine connections with my clients. My approach is rooted in understanding what people want to feel when they walk into a room, not just how they want it to look.

What I’m most proud of brand-wise is launching my business in March 2026 despite fear, uncertainty, and every obstacle that tried to stop me. I’m proud that my brand represents growth, resilience, faith, and stepping out on purpose even when the journey feels unfamiliar.

I want readers to know that my brand is more than interior decorating — it’s about helping people feel inspired, comfortable, and confident in their spaces. Every service I provide is intentional, creative, and designed to bring my clients’ visions to life while creating an atmosphere/sanctuary that feels both beautiful, meaningful and a safe place.

The Stylish Sanctuary Home Company is building toward more than decorating homes. We are creating a brand than can style luxury homes, transform Airbnb properties, stage homes for real estate and homeowners, and eventually become known for polished, high-end environments that feel intentional and memorable. Our style direction sounds aligned with modern luxury, clean sophistication, statement pieces, layered textures, neutral foundations with elegant accents, and spaces that feel both welcoming and premium. We are strong in creating ambiance, and helping people feel emotionally connected to their environment. We are the type of business that turn empty rooms into experiences, basics spaces into luxury environments, and ordinary properties into spaces people remember. This is all the foundation of a luxury interior decorator.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
making clients feel understood,
reducing overwhelm,
communicating clearly,
managing expectations,
and guiding decisions calmly.
A decorator can have incredible taste, but if the process feels stressful or uncertain, clients remember that. On the other hand, even modest-budget projects can create loyal clients when the experience feels collaborative and reassuring.
Another lesson many decorators discover: your portfolio attracts attention, but your systems create sustainability. Things like:
clear proposals,
defined timelines,
sourcing workflows,
revision boundaries,
vendor relationships,
and pricing confidence
often become just as important as creativity.
