Today we’d like to introduce you to Anison Roberts.
Hi Anison, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am the Impaler. The lead singer of N2 submission (A goth electronic band) and Dangerous Pleasure (old school hard rock band)
I also do some solo stuff. All of us have music on you tube and CD baby. I am also the host of horrorcity Detroit, available on youtube.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I wouldn’t say smooth. But In the late 90s, N2 submission was on a roll. we went thru 3 different lineups back then and we had a S&M stageshow.
The highlight was 1997 when we hit some radio station’s top ten in Buffalo, New York.
After that, in the early 2000s, I did a CD called Contract with Satan with Black Chen, Marni Melody Mix (aka M3) and the t connection (Time Mcmahon and Teri Marten) on guitars as my backing band. 3 of my 5 Detroit Music Awards came during that time.

N2 submission is an electric band currently featuring Barbara Jean (of the Barbara Jean Machine) and my self
Dangerous Pleasure is stacked. I have Toby Stone (former Zotz bassist), Mark Kaster (former drummer for the Farleys) and J.J. Zetts (a music grad from Youngstown University and then there’s me in front. On our first CD I did a song on keys jut to show off
My solo stuff is usually backed up by whoever I can con into playing with me that show (Lots of Improv).
BY Halloween I hope to have a project finished that I’m writing with Eric Anderson and Bonnie Conklin called The Dream of a Monster (It’s a rock opera)
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Yes. if somebody offers you advice make sure they have their own act together. I’m to the point where I tell people don’t tell me what I should do unless you’re going to take me to your mansion and explain to me what I’m doing wrong
There are people out there that have never played in front of more than 6 people but want to tell you what you need to do to be successful.
