Community Highlights: Meet Steve Kopp of Bricks & Minifigs Walker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Steve Kopp.

Hi Steve, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Owning a store that sells Lego has been a dream of mine since 2015, and I have honestly been a lifelong fan of Lego. At the heart of it, I just want to bring happiness to others — if I could put one thing on my business card, it would be: I sell joy! That dream became a reality on January 17th, this year when we opened our doors to the public and were met with a warm welcome despite the snow storm outside.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being a music major, I knew nothing about business going in to this, and boy was it a learning curve! But really nothing good comes without some struggle and a lot of hard work. I had the love of Lego and seeing this dream come to fruition that pushed me over every wall and obstacle I had to overcome.

Honestly the Lego community is a very friendly, warm group who has been very helpful to me along the way. I have a lot of people to thank for coming along side me in making this dream come true.

As you know, we’re big fans of Bricks & Minifigs Walker. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Bricks & Minifigs stands apart because we offer more than a traditional retail experience — we create a place where creativity, nostalgia, and community come together. Every visit feels a little different because our inventory is constantly changing through our buy-sell-trade model, giving customers the chance to discover retired LEGO sets, rare minifigures, loose bulk bricks, and unique finds they may not see anywhere else.

We focus on making the experience hands-on and interactive. Guests can search through bulk brick tables for specific pieces, build custom minifigures, and explore displays that appeal to both kids and adult LEGO fans. We love that our store brings generations together through creativity and a shared passion for building.

Community involvement is also a big part of what makes us unique. Last month, we started offering birthday parties, giving families a fun and creative place to celebrate special occasions. We’re also excited to begin partnering with Bricks 4 Kidz, with summer camps starting next month. The camps will create even more opportunities for kids to learn, build, and explore STEM concepts through hands-on LEGO activities.

Another important part of our mission is sustainability. By giving LEGO bricks and sets a second life through reuse and resale, we help make the hobby more accessible while encouraging creativity and reimagining old collections in new ways.
