Today we’d like to introduce you to Connie Smock.
Hi Connie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Over the past 35+ years, I’ve gained extensive experience offering intuitive readings and energy work. Alongside this path, I spent many years in the corporate world, working in management for an insurance company and later co-owning an adjusting company for 13 years. In 2018, I made the decision to fully dedicate myself to my spiritual work and began offering readings full-time.
I’ve always had a passion for helping people navigate their spiritual journeys…whether through angel readings, mediumship, hypnotherapy, or healing sessions. I was born and raised in Michigan, and my business continues to be based there. I also host open forum psychic mediumship events throughout Michigan and in surrounding states across the U.S., creating opportunities for people to experience connection, healing, and insight in a group setting.
I often refer to myself as the Inspiring Angel Medium because I blend the many techniques I’ve learned over the years with motivational speaking and practical life guidance. Whether I’m working one-on-one or in a live open forum setting, my goal is not only to deliver messages but to empower and uplift people with tools they can apply in their everyday lives.
I’m also the author of a book focused on helping people shift from fear to love. As a lifelong student of energy, my work centers on teaching others how to understand and transform their own energy so they can create the life they truly desire.
Throughout my journey, I’ve committed to continuous learning and growth. I am a certified Reiki Master Teacher in multiple forms, a certified life coach, yoga teacher trainer, hypnotherapist, and Qi Gong instructor. I also hold a black belt in karate and am an angel healing harp practitioner, along with many other certifications in various healing modalities.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has definitely not been smooth. After I graduated from high school, my parents moved several hours away. I chose to stay behind, which meant I was on my own from the age of 18, starting from scratch. My parents were launching a business at the time and, while they provided much emotional support, they didn’t have the means to support me financially at that time.
I worked my way up the corporate ladder, starting out at the mail room for an insurance claims department. Even while working in the corporate world, I was always building my spiritual business on the side; taking classes, developing my gifts, and finding ways to help others. It has always been an integral part of who I am.
When I co-founded my former adjusting company, I faced one of the biggest challenges of my life. Someone I trusted, an in-law, turned out to be a professional con artist, unbeknownst to me, and their actions left me in debt for over 2 million dollars. There were moments when I truly thought I might lose our home under the weight of financial strain and the pressures of building a startup. As many entrepreneurs know, it takes years before a business generates substantial income. Still, I kept moving forward, holding onto faith that everything would work out.
During that time, I relied heavily on energy techniques, not only to stay grounded, but to consciously shift my focus toward what I wanted to create rather than what I feared. At the same time, I was navigating a divorce and raising two children as a single parent, all while co-owning a demanding business. We handled fatal accidents and were on call 24/7. There were days I worked 18 hours, slept for four, and then did it all over again.
Like most divorces, that chapter came with its own set of struggles. But it also deepened my understanding of energy and personal responsibility. I realized that if I didn’t learn to control my energy, it would control me. That realization became the catalyst for writing my book. The techniques I developed didn’t just help me, they created a space for healing within my family as well.
In 2018, I left the corporate world to fully step into my spiritual business. Like any entrepreneurial journey, it has come with ebbs and flows, and I’ve had to rebuild more than once. Growth changes you, and as you evolve, not everyone evolves with you. I believe every person enters our lives for a reason, a season, or a greater purpose, and every experience is here to teach us something. The real question is: did we learn from it?
When we begin viewing life through the lens of soul growth and learning, instead of asking, “Why does this keep happening to me?” our perspective shifts. And when perspective shifts, our energy shifts too, allowing us to move forward with greater strength, clarity, and purpose.
More recently, I experienced the loss of my mother, who was also one of my spiritual mentors. During that time, my business experienced a temporary slowdown, something many business owners can relate to, as income often depends directly on your ability to work. While I understand death from a spiritual perspective as a transition rather than an end, the loss was still deeply personal. I find comfort in continuing to feel connected to her, and I carry her guidance with me as I begin working on my next book.
Perhaps the most challenging aspect of this journey has been finding balance; between running a business, raising children, supporting clients, and maintaining the energy to be a source of light for others. It’s a constant practice, but one that continues to shape who I am and the work I do.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m known for helping people heal through a blend of mediumship, intuitive guidance, and energy work. It’s the most meaningful work I could imagine doing. There’s nothing quite like witnessing someone shift from fear, anger, or resentment into forgiveness, love, and peace…especially when that transformation comes through a connection with a departed loved one. Whether it’s receiving an apology, hearing validating details, or sharing messages that confirm their loved ones are still present and supporting them, those moments are truly priceless.
In one of my recent open forum mediumship events, a father came through and identified himself with his nickname, “Kentucky,” along with specific details and naming other family members. These validations helped confirm his presence, but more importantly, he reassured her that he is still with her and always will be. Experiences like that bring an incredible sense of comfort; knowing that our loved ones see us, understand what we’re going through, and continue to support us on the other side.
Some of the most touching moments are when messages come through expressing gratitude, like a loved one saying, “thank you for taking care of me,” or sharing that they felt their presence during their transition while holding their hand. In another session, a young woman shared that the experience avoided a trip to the emergency room; she had been on the verge of a nervous breakdown, and afterward felt lighter, calmer, and more emotionally grounded. She reflected that the session provided a level of relief and clarity she had struggled to find through years of therapy alone. While I deeply value traditional therapy, I believe the most meaningful healing often comes through a balance of both therapeutic support and spiritual work.
At times, people may even realize they’ve been picking up on spiritual energy themselves, mistaking it for their own physical or emotional symptoms. While that can be an eye-opening experience, I always emphasize the importance of checking in with a medical professional for any physical or mental health concerns.
Ultimately, I’m known for creating a space where people can feel seen, supported, loved and deeply connected, both to themselves and to those they love, here and beyond. My mission is to help people move from fear to love.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
I believe real growth happens outside your comfort zone…and that inevitably involves taking risks. Staying safe and comfortable rarely leads you to your biggest goals. I consider myself a risk taker, and one of the most defining examples was leaving a stable management position at an insurance company, complete with benefits, while also being the primary breadwinner for my family at the time. My then-partner was a stay-at-home parent, so the decision carried significant responsibility.
When my business partner and I started our company from scratch, income was uncertain for the first few years. It required a tremendous leap of faith. I’m deeply grateful for that partnership; we balanced each other well, complementing one another’s strengths and weaknesses.
We even adopted a bold mindset early on; our unofficial motto came from the Eminem (Michigan man) 8 Mile soundtrack: “success is the only motherf@%&ing option.. failure is not.” By our five-year anniversary, we had a plaque made with that quote. It was a daily reminder of the standard we held ourselves to and the belief that we would find a way, no matter what.
Over the years, I’ve taken risks not just in business, but in relationships, experiences, and life overall. Building that company was one of the biggest leaps. It demanded unwavering focus, especially during times when progress felt slow or unclear. I had to develop new skills and consistently push beyond my comfort zone. Within five years, we grew the business to 23 employees…starting from nothing.
My message to everyone: If there’s something you feel called to pursue, go for it. Don’t let fear make the decision for you. And if you’re already on that path and feeling discouraged, keep going. Stay focused on your vision and trust the process. Keep your eyes on the prize, not the distraction.
