Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristine Felske.
Hi Kristine, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was originally a service dog trainer for Paws With A Cause. I became engaged and moved back to Bay City only working for Paws With A Cause part time. I started a dog daycare to help work with clients with separation anxiety cases. We had a 100 percent success rate getting these dogs to overcome their anxiety with owners leaving them. We were able to wean off of daycare so they could handle being by themselves. I also work with aggressive dogs. Most of the reasons why they have social conflicts are due to lack of socialization with lack of exercise. This is where our sport options have changed the avenue of these dogs. We find their sport strengths and re-build their foundation and the dog and owner’s relationship are renewed.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
We have had a lot of struggles. First of all, Kaybee’s is ran more like a non-profit and focuses a lot of community involvement and helping anyone that has a dog in need. We did not start as a dog training business for quick cash. Finding employees that have the same value plus the education is a hard combination. Bay City’s bridges are the most current struggle. Nobody wants to cross the toll bridges twice a day. So our daycare has taken the biggest hit especially residents from Bangor Twp. We have lost most of our Saginaw Clients too.
As you know, we’re big fans of Kaybee’s K9 Training & SPA. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Kaybee’s K9 Training is a dog daycare/training Facility. We specialize in making hyper dogs happy. We teach dogs how to get along with other dogs. (Or teach them to be neutral if too old to learn how to play). Also, separation anxiety and people reactivity training. We do not take dogs that have had severe bites. We will not put our staff or other dogs in danger. Our basic obedience classes are free if they enroll in our doggie school program. It’s an awesome value!
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Seeing frustrated owners being proud of their dogs. Watching owners faces when they come into the daycare and seeing their dog was able to make a new friend.
