We’re Brandon and John, a dynamic duo with a passion for celebration and a knack for creating unforgettable experiences.
For the past decade, we’ve been working together as boat detailers, honing our skills in craftsmanship and attention to detail. Our journey took an exciting turn when we decided to transform an old horse trailer into a stunning mobile bar. This creative venture allowed us to combine our love for working together with our desire to bring joy to others during life’s special moments.
With a lot of hard work and countless hours in our free time, we meticulously renovated the trailer, infusing it with our unique style and flair. Our goal is to make every event memorable—whether it’s a wedding, graduation party, retirement party, or birthday celebration. We take pride in our creation and are dedicated to providing a beautiful backdrop for any gathering!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not entirely smooth, just a bit bumpy. Everything about the trailer was oddly shaped and it was a time-consuming feat trying to figure out how to build it out properly with such challenging dimensions! As boat detailers, we are well-versed in solving complex problems. Each boat is kind of like a puzzle, requiring a unique method, set of tools, and a specific timeline to achieve the desired result. While the experience of converting the horse trailer was trying, our professional background helped us navigate the various obstacles we uncovered along the way.
We have had many decisions to make from choosing an exterior paint color, finding a kegerator with exact dimensions, to customizing the inside with unique decor. We are grateful for the online resources provided by other mobile bar owners, which helped guide us in the right direction It was ultimately rewarding and satisfying to successfully complete the build!

At Detroit Draft Horse, we take pride in offering premium mobile bar services tailored for a wide range of events, from elegant weddings, grad parties, to lively birthday parties and everything in between! Additionally, we provide tent and cocktail table rentals to enhance our guests’ experience. We feature three practical packages customized for various group sizes and needs. Each package includes professional bartenders and signature cocktails, covering everything from setup to delivery. Our bartenders bring decades of professional experience from some of the finest bars and waterfront restaurants in Southeast Michigan.
What sets us apart is that we are a mobile bar that feels like part of our client’s event—not an add-on. From fast, reliable communication to guiding clients through their dream bar experience, we prioritize a seamless and personalized process from start to finish. We take pride in our work ethic and the genuine relationships we build with our clients and their guests. For us, every event is more than a service – it’s a shared experience that’s just as meaningful and memorable on our end as it is on our clients’. Our signature add-on, a custom live edge wood sign, reflects that philosophy. Designed uniquely for any event, it’s more than décor – it’s a keepsake our client can take home, a lasting piece of their celebration long after the final drink is served.
We chose the name Draft Horse to honor the strength, patience, and friendly nature of the breed – traits we strive to embody in our team. Additionally, as a mobile bar, the “Draft” in our name is a perfect nod to our service. Our bar also features several custom touches: a beautiful live-edge bar top crafted by a local woodworker from Saint Clair Shores, a 1993 antique kegerator that matches the age of our trailer, and a back door sourced from an early 1900s Detroit home.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
We love St. Clair Shores – between the parks, the lake, and all the waterfront restaurants and summer events, there’s always something going on. It’s hard to beat being by the water.
Least favorite? Definitely the fish flies. They show up uninvited every summer and really make themselves at home.
