Today we’d like to introduce you to Trish Currie.
Hi Trish, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My story didn’t start with a business plan, it started in an elevator.
It was one of those moments that didn’t seem significant at the time, but it stayed with me.
I had just finished a long shift, carrying everything that comes with being a nurse, the responsibility, the emotions, the moments you don’t always have time to process. I stepped into the elevator with a patient. There was no rush, no monitors, no team around us, just two people in a quiet space.
And in that stillness, something shifted.
There was a connection. A real one. Not rushed. Not clinical. Just human.
That moment made me realize something I hadn’t fully put into words before:
the most powerful part of care isn’t always what we do, it’s how we show up.
I’ve been a nurse for over 30 years, with much of my career rooted in oncology and critical care, including trauma and cardiothoracic ICU work in Detroit. I’ve walked alongside patients and families through diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, and loss. I’ve also stood shoulder to shoulder with healthcare professionals who give everything they have, often at the expense of themselves.
Over time, I began to see a gap. We are trained to treat conditions, manage symptoms, and move quickly, but there is very little space in the system for the emotional and mental weight that both patients and providers carry. People are leaving appointments with unanswered fears. Nurses are leaving shifts with unprocessed experiences. Caregivers are overwhelmed and unsure how to keep going.
And for a long time, I lived that reality too.
I experienced burnout, the kind that isn’t just physical, but emotional and mental. The kind that makes you question how much longer you can keep showing up the way you always have. And I realized something important:
burnout isn’t a personal failure, it’s a system signal.
That realization changed everything for me. I knew I didn’t want to walk away from healthcare, I wanted to help change the way we support people within it.
That’s what led me to pursue nurse coaching and ultimately create my own practice, Revive Restore Health & Wellness.
As a Board Certified Nurse Coach, I navigate and support individuals in a more holistic way, helping them process what they’re carrying, reconnect with themselves, and move forward with clarity and strength. I work with oncology patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals who are navigating some of the most challenging seasons of their lives.
But this work is also bigger than one-on-one coaching. I’m passionate about bringing my CARE Model into healthcare organizations as a solution to burnout, retention, and wellbeing, because what we are seeing across the system isn’t sustainable, and it’s not being solved by surface-level solutions.
At the core of everything I do is a belief that was reinforced in that elevator: people don’t just need care, they need connection.
And also this: you are more than your diagnosis, and that includes the people providing the care.
That moment in the elevator didn’t just change how I see my work, it changed the direction of my life.
Tingles & Tears 🤍
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I’ve lived the burnout I now help others navigate, working full-time as a nurse while building my business and trying to hold everything together as a single mother. There were moments of exhaustion, self-doubt, and questioning if I could keep going. But those struggles became the foundation for my work, giving me a deep understanding of what people are truly carrying beneath the surface
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At the core of my work is something I call Nurse Coach Navigation, a more human, integrative approach to care that supports people beyond their diagnosis or role. I work with individuals navigating cancer, caregivers carrying emotional exhaustion, and healthcare professionals experiencing burnout. My focus is helping people reconnect with themselves, gain clarity, and move forward with strength and purpose, not just survival.
My work is grounded in my signature CARE Model, a framework designed to help people process what they’re carrying, reconnect with who they are, and take aligned, sustainable action forward. It’s not just about coping, it’s about creating real, lasting change from the inside out.
What I specialize in is bridging the gap between clinical care and emotional wellbeing. Healthcare is exceptional at treating disease, but it often overlooks the human experience happening alongside it. I don’t replace the system, I support what’s missing from it. I create space for people to be seen, heard, and understood, while also guiding them with practical, actionable tools.
What I’m most proud of is building something rooted in lived experience. I’m not speaking from theory, I’ve lived the burnout, the emotional weight, and the pressure of holding it all together while continuing to show up for others. That lived understanding allows me to connect with people in a way that feels real, safe, and deeply human.
What sets me apart is the combination of over 30 years of frontline nursing experience with coaching, emotional intelligence, and systems-level awareness. I don’t just understand people, I understand the environments they’re trying to survive in. I’m not afraid to say what others won’t: burnout isn’t a personal failure, it’s a system signal. And until we address both the individual and the system, nothing changes.
I’m known for creating a space where people can exhale, sometimes for the first time in a long time. A space where they don’t have to perform, fix, or hold it all together. Just be human.
And from that place, that’s where clarity, resilience, and real healing begin.
What are your plans for the future?
Looking ahead, my focus is on expanding the reach and impact of my work, both at an individual and systems level. I’m continuing to grow Revive Restore Health & Wellness while also bringing Nurse Coach Navigation and my CARE Model into healthcare organizations as a solution to burnout, retention, and overall staff wellbeing.
I’m especially excited about collaborating with hospitals and leadership teams to create meaningful, sustainable change, moving beyond surface-level wellness initiatives and into real support for healthcare professionals. This includes workshops, speaking engagements, and integrating coaching into the culture of care.
On the private side, I’m expanding my coaching programs, resources, and digital tools so I can support more individuals, patients, caregivers, and professionals, who are navigating emotionally demanding experiences and looking for a more grounded, human approach to healing and growth.
Long term, I see this evolving into a larger network of nurse coaches working within my model, supporting not only healthcare providers but also caregivers and other high-stress professions like first responders.
What I’m most looking forward to is being part of a shift, where mental and emotional wellbeing are no longer an afterthought in healthcare, but a foundational part of how we care for both patients and providers.
