Inspiring Conversations with Hanna Scott of Neverland Entertainment

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hanna Scott.

Hi Hanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started working for Neverland Entertainment in 2017 fresh out of high school as a princess performer. I had been eyeing the job for years because I have a theatrical, childcare, costuming, & fairytale loving background. I grew to love it so much more than I ever could’ve imagined. I fell in love with people’s reactions to meeting a character. I’ve had so many powerful encounters with families being moved to tears explaining just how much our interaction meant to them. When the owner at the time moved out of state, she asked if I would like to step into a supervisor role- which was an automatic YES!
I was studying child development, and working through healing of my own inner child when I had my son. It became very obvious to me that the concepts of creating wonder, awe, baseline joy, creativity, & freedom were going to be my callings.
Three kids & three years later- I became the owner of Neverland Entertainment. It has been almost three years since that summer and so much has grown & changed both in my company and in my life. I am forever grateful for this business because it gave me my spark back when I’ve needed it most. And now it’s my job to do the same for others.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Is it ever smooth? Definitely not. I became the business owner of Neverland Entertainment in summer 2023 which is coincidentally when I gave birth to my third child in less than three years… and even more ironically, it was the summer when I became a single mom. Looking back now it all sounds absolutely insane to me. But my company saved me in so many ways and was a shining light of hope when I needed it. I am eternally grateful for my team and everybody who showed me kindness and grace in that time. Those people have my support for life.

I worked a lot of odd jobs, night shifts to pay bills and supplement but nothing offered the flexibility I needed with three babies. I decided to push on with the business because It was so close to being enough. Sure enough, that spring the business hit a massive boom which launched me into year round reliable income. I was able to add dinosaur entertainment, mermaids, inflatables, and get more and more creative in hosting our own events.

I was discouraged by more than I was ever encouraged by. But a guiding quote for me has been something along the lines of ‘once you were a little girl who had big dreams she promised she’d make real one day, make her proud’
This whole journey of single mom entrepreneur has been equally wonderful and challenging experience. But I firmly believe in giving my children the best version of myself. And that version includes a creative, free, event planning, business owning, mom who never has to choose between work and being there for them. I could fill pages on pages with the fun experiences my children have gotten to have because of this company. And I hope they see firsthand the importance of never settling & chasing their dream life. Getting to this point was so not easy but so incredibly worth it.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Neverland Entertainment ?
Our slogan is “Entertainment for the child inside of all of us”
My goal and dream is to provide everyone who encounters our entertainment with a moment of childlike simplicity, wonder, awe, & most importantly- joy. It is important to me I hire a team that shares this mission and the ways we all have gotten to experience our own inner child healing through this work gives me goosebumps.

I hope that anyone who works with us can see that heart and that drive in what we do. The commitment to making magical core memories for every age, everywhere we go.

This business has given me so much fun, freedom, whimsy, joy, & memories. My biggest dream is for it to give back to others in that same way.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I honestly do not. I have done virtual mentoring communities, because I have had the best luck finding like minded owners there.
I firmly believe insecure business owners compete. And secure business owners collaborate.
I am continually putting myself out there and meeting people with this in mind. The world only benefits from more whimsy, art, creativity, & kindness. It’s truly a blessing to meet other like minded business owners who believe this too.
