Today we’d like to introduce you to Megan Oxley.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
As an ER Physician in Detroit, I observed that without mental health, there is no physical health. Modern psychiatry was often treating mental illness like an overwhelmed ER, stabilizing clients to get them out the door without healing root causes. I discovered the immense benefits of ketamine when researching depression treatment options for a family member who was really struggling. I opened Michigan Progressive Health in 2016 to provide this leading edge treatment for those with chronic mood and pain conditions. We started as a little two room clinic but the need for a compassionate progressive approach to mental health was so needed, we have blossomed into two bustling clinics in Royal Oak and Ann Arbor. The first thing you will notice when you walk in is our healing environment designed around patient safety, privacy, and support. 10 years later, we are now Michigans’ most experienced ketamine treatment providers. We have a trauma informed comprehensive care team, which including psychotherapists.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One of the biggest struggles we faced was trying to find a second location that would serve our patients needs. Shortly after we landed on Ann Arbor and signed a lease on our space, COVID happened. So our office sat empty for over half a year while we tried to sort out how to care for our patients during that time period. Thankfully, it did end well and we really love the space we have there.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
MPH offers a progressive approach to mental wellbeing. We are a physician-led clinic dedicated to providing integrative ketamine treatment that improves the lives of our patients. Our integrative psychiatry services, spearheaded by Dr. Kathryn Chilton, blend traditional psychiatric care with evidence-based complementary therapies. This holistic approach ensures that each patient receives a personalized treatment plan that addresses their physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual well-being.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Joining or helping to form organizations that are spear-heading progress in innovative treatments. Attending conferences and meeting new people and getting inspired is also helpful.
